Things I regret –

You ever write something on a forum, and then the next day you just have no idea why you did it? This will surely be one of those things. Mind you: I am completely sober while writing this. Yet when I came up with the idea to write this blog, I couldn’t remember the avenue to get to it. I managed to get to a gaming site, a porn site, and a poker forum before I finally came to my senses and came to TPE. Not a good sign. I will surely blame ambien for this. Sorry, manufacturer of a drug I so dearly love. Anyway, I’ve been doing a lot of reflection recently, and here’s a few things that I’ve learned from some introspection.. Surely, people think that being a poker pro is fill of glitz, glamour, money and [More...]

Cool weekend

Haven’t blogged in a while so figured I should update it up.  Been on a downswing pokerwise that was just offset this weekend by a 100^3 tilt win with a few other deep finishes on saturday followed by a win in the ub 500 and shipping an EPT Villamoura seat.  Pretty happy with it, itching to play some more live poker after all this WSOP stuff so first EPT I’m playing of the schedule will be on august 28th!  Have some friends visiting from Pittsburgh so taking it easy this week to relax and keep the balance in poker, although I will be playing tonight =D

Back to Reality

I am back from Las Vegas and have had some time to recover and get back to “normal life”. Although the tournaments I played did not go as planned, I still had an amazing time. RonFezBuddy and I shared a room at The Rio and it was alot of fun just getting to hang with him, talk poker and enjoy a beer at the end of each evening. Also got to spend some quality time with Wein, as well as Hagbard. In fact, RFB and I did a Sunday session over at Hagbard’s condo, and it was a blast.  Although I’ve never seen 3 guys run quite as bad as we did that day. It’s still kind of amazes me each day that I get to work with this group of guys who have really come together as a team better than you could [More...]

WSOP Blues

It’s over. While I think that I played very well throughout the series, and that overall my game is as strong as it’s ever been; I am very unsatisfied with how this WSOP went. I only cashed in one event, and that was a 25th place in a Venetian 2k for just under $7K. I didn’t run nearly as bad as last year, which consisted of my flopping the nuts/sets in multiple events, getting all-in and then losing; so this year wasn’t nearly as heartbreaking as last year, but to go one-for-whatever and head home with nothing to show for my six weeks here is still very disappointing. And I find myself very depressed as I prepare to go home. I spend nearly none of my time at home with other poker players. So pretty much all of my contact [More...]

WSOP ME Day 3 – The End

Well, that’s it for my run at the WSOP Main Event. I made it halfway through day 3. The highpoint of my stack the entire tournament was 62k. There’s not much to say here. I made it through this far picking up blinds and 3 bet stealing. There was very little in the way of actual hands. I did some calculating and if we played 9 hours on day 1, 8 hours on day 2 and I played 4 hours on day 3 that is 21 hours of poker – or 1260 minutes. If you estimate 2 minutes a hand I played 630 hands. I had AA once, QQ once, AK once and AQ twice. It’s just really hard to amass chips when you can’t cooler someone at some point. Such is poker and I take some pride in my [More...]

Sup

Hey guys. Wsop is over for most of us. Although the lucky 9 is yet to be determined. We have had our wsop fun this year and its another year to wait for that elusive bracelet. I didnt get a chance to play nearly as many events as I wanted to this year because of personal issues. However having said that I did make a couple deep runs in the limited amount of tournys I did play. I am hoping to get out to Turningstone in August for their pokerstars sponsored events. Assuming I have everything worked out here at home. I like the live game its so much easier if I can just keep from being bored out of my tree. There is a PGA tour golf coarse right on the property there so Its defenetly a motivating factor [More...]

WSOP Day 2b

Well, I made it through Day 2. On to day 3 with 45k. Blinds will be 500/1000 100ante for the first hour and then go to 600/1200 200 ante. The average stack is around 86k so I’m not in super comfortable shape but having 45bbs in a tournament actually seems like a lot to me! I feel pretty good to be here as well because I had very few hands today. My plan was to play the first hour tight to establish an image and not put my stack at risk needlessly but I picked up hands that I had to open like 55 from the button which got calls out of the blind. I got a perfect cbet flop that got c/r by the SB so I had to fold. Then I got AQs from MP which I opened [More...]

Day 1d – WSOP ME

Made it through to day 2! Was a rollercoaster of a day. I ended up with ~24k after being down to about 20k during level 2 and then as big as 60k during level 3. My table was pretty soft. A few older guys and a few burly home-game type players. Just one or two young internet types. The early going was slow. I established a pretty aggressive image and got paid off with hands. For example, during level 3 I flopped quads once and checked, led turn and river for a big pot when a K hit the turn and AK paid me. After dinner I ran into some trouble. First I lost a big pot. I ran it by Wein and he didn’t like my line. Second orbit after dinner at 150/300 25ante – I have about 50k. [More...]

Off To a Bad Start

First big event in Vegas did not go as planned. After final tableing the evening tourney at Mirage the night before I was feeling good for yesterdays $550 Venetian Deepstack event.  Unfortuatenly my QQ could not hold against a super aggro’s AQ for what would have been a nice 150 big blind stack.  I then went over to the Rio to play a $550 sat to the Main Event.  I proceeded to lose KK to TT and then KK to 88 to bust somewhere in the middle of the pack. So I’m obviously disappointed with the results so far, but still have a few events left and I am in good spirits and ready to keep rolling. Todays event is a $330 Venetian Deepstack event.  Let’s hope I can hold!!!

The Day before the WSOP ME

So I’m writing this up on the plane to play in the WSOP ME. Today is day 1c, and I’m going to play day 1d. I live in New York, so we’re on the 6 hour flight and there’s about an hour left. My laptop battery has just enough left to write up a blog as I’ve been loading up on TPE vids to prep myself for the long grind. I tried to sleep but couldn’t really get comfortable. I originally registered for 1D, but then starting thinking that I would play 1c if I could catch at least 3 hours of sleep on this flight, but that didn’t happen. I usually sleep like a baby on planes. I picked a seat that didn’t recline so it was pretty uncomfortable. Playing 1c would have been better because 1c plays on [More...]
