So it happened again last night, but this time there was a difference. I understand it now. I accept the flaw and now it is time for the real work. Fixing it. So what is it you ask, well it is my demon to fight. Over the course of the last few months I have learned how to wield my stack and to build a late stage mountain. I have gone into the final 30-50 in the top 5 in chips in numerous tournaments in the last several weeks and what do I have to show for it, very little. Why is that you ask. Well until this week, I think I was asking the same question. I was reviewing and hunting. Looking for the demon. Convinced it was some giant horned beast breathing smoke and belching fire. Well I [More...]
I have been guided to a whole new world. I have seen the 90 KO SnG on FT and I am happy. I started as a SnG player and I had pretty much abandoned the genre in the middle of 2010 due to extreme frustration, but to be fair it was all single table stuff back then. I have been looking at my schedule and what I play a lot of late and noticed that I am playing almost all large field MTTs so I think I need to balance out things a little with something that I can finish better in and balance my overall results with. Don't get me wrong, I am not changing my normal schedule, just adding a little more spice. So following some of the regs suggestions I have started jumping into the turbo [More...]
So I am a Northern NJ resident, I live about 40min West of NYC and I gots me some snow yesterday. In case you aren't from the area a tiny little blizzard decided to run its way up the east coast and crap all over us. I feel for the folks in Boston and that area today, cause this one was a pain in the back. I just finished shoveling out and of course, don't you know it has to be the heavy stuff. So now here I am sitting in front of the computer, post shower, tired and clean and ready for a day of not moving. I think I am going to continue my assault on the mid stakes stuff and see if I can't successfully break through this glass ceiling today. I had an okay day yesterday, [More...]
I just couldn't resist. That is the funniest Christmas parody ever Anyway I just wanted to stop in a throw a little post up wishing Happy Holidays and a great New Year to the TPE Nation! I hope that 2011 brings bigger scores, better profits and higher stakes for everyone!
Hey guys, I have been trying to upload some videos on hand reading and ranges, but something is wrong and I keep getting KB's article about Christmas presents to upload instead. I'll try and figure this out, I know some people wanted to see some hand reading vids, and I play a lot of cash, so I think that is probably the strongest part of my game, and something you don't necessarily need to be good at to be profitable in MTTs, but something that helps a ton after you learn it. I haven't played many MTTs these past months, but I am sure if I did my ROI would take a nice bump after the time I have spent working on hand reading, ranges, what to do against certain ranges, and etc… So yeah, hopefully I get this problem [More...]
Hi guys, I just purchased my first Heads Up Display . Since I run a Mac I chose Poker CoPilot and I have been nothing but impressed so far. There are so many great things about this program I don't know where to begin. I highly recommend it if you are a Mac user and are looking for a native Heads Up Display. I have provided the link below. http://www.pokercopilot.com It will take some time to adjust and really get the most out of the HUD though. It's one thing to see all these stats and numbers on your screen but another to actually understand what they mean and how to play accordingly. So far, with my very limited exposure to HUD's, the program has already helped me pick out the rocks from the fish at my tables. I am [More...]
So no playing occured last night as I am enjoying the comforts of Melville, NY (its on Long Island) on a quick emergency business trip. What did happen while I was sitting at the hotel bar having a beer and just unwinding for the evening was some time to think. I know, I am a complete nerd, I can't stop thinking about things no matter where I go. My wife is sometimes amazed and annoyed by how singularly focused I can be, but it is a large part of why I am successful at my different adventures. You have to see a goal and then strive for it with every fiber of your being, or you will never succeed. Success is never partial. Almost doesn't count. Quitting doesn't exist. Anyhow, as I was sitting at the bar, I was thinking [More...]
I come to you this morning from my desk, more than half asleep but pretty happy. Sunday was a bit of a disaster, had huge expectations for myself and imploded a bit, so wasn't real happy about that. Decided last night that I was going to get back on the horse, focus on playing the way I know I am capable and see what happened. I don't tolerate crap play from myself when I know it is bad, so this was no exception. Time to cut bait and dominate. So what happened you ask. Let the Gman fill you in on what was a very very very long evening, with a bit of a happy ending Fired up the session and started to add in some mid stakes stuff across the board, which I am really starting to get into. Another week down and time to review and think about the prior week, hoping I have advanced my play in some aspect. This week, I am fearing advancement was not the outcome. I find it incredibly hard to deal with my own general stupidity when it comes to my play. The problem stems from being able to admit what plays were good and what plays were bad, and really being honest with yourself about what was unlucky and what was bad. Well, this week was the Mini FTOPs Main Event and my first Sunday Million and I have to say, I don't think luck was against me this week. Understanding and digesting what was bad, and more importantly understanding how to fix the problems are the highest agenda items for the week. Stay tuned to the rest of the week [More...]
