Hello!

Started back on mtt study, finally embarassed… found this hand, that I have doubt on how to play it after SB calls cbet otf, if was just me and BTN I would called only. After SB calls, I tried to make a psb ott. I need to see what your thinking on their ranges should be around, and what is be best line otf. What about the size of my reraise otf?

Also, 7 T or J spade should be really bad, and I should check fold, right? (after SB calls, I probably peel another bet from BTN if we go heads up to the turn)

MP3: 20,550 (68.5 bb)
CO: 5,000 (16.7 bb)
BTN: 33,205 (110.7 bb)

Preflop: Hero is BB with 9diamond 8diamond
5 folds, BTN raises to 600, SB calls 450, Hero calls 300

Flop: (1,800) 8club 9spade 2spade (3 players)
SB checks, Hero checks, BTN bets 1,200, SB calls 1,200, Hero raises to 5,400?,

Thanks!!

I think is fine almo, I agree that maybe flatting if it’s just you and the button might be OK (although I still like a raise there) but here I think this is just fine. You could argue a slightly smaller raise, although I suppose the hands that will call you will be rather inelastic so you can go bigger than you might normally. But there are definitely elastic hands that will call 4000 and fold to 5400 I think (like QJo, 67s, etc).

So I think this is OK, you’re definitely raising to GII (I can’t think of many situations if any that I would be folding here), and you deal with the turn when it comes to it. Even on a scary turn I don’t know how often I’m folding, likely continuing to bet.

Looks fine. Even heads up with button I still am not wild about slowplaying this. I’d seriously consider donking flop (both three way and heads up) as well.

I jave a feeling the btn whiffed it on the flop, but was throwing down a cbet to try and take down the pot with his half sized bet. I do the same thing.

But i think it was a good idea for you to take down the pot righ then and there. Two pairs are trouble hands for me. Two pairs have gotten me into some major trouble trying to slow play them quite a bit.

Slow playing big made hands on the flop is overrated imo. Its a fairly dynamic (wet) looking board which could look ugly really quick on turn and river and leave you guessing and head scratching later in the hand. Raise big now and get it in if you have a willing customer or just take it down there and then. Especially as a lot of overpairs will likely put you on a draw and give you action.

If BTN has a high cbet frequency my preferred play is check raise. If it is low frequency I’d go with the donk lead as well, but big something in the region of 65-100% pot not a little faggy min donk (although this may get the spazz raise your are looking for). I think the full pot Donk lead is almost as effective at inducing a spazz out as the min donk from a player that actually has a hand and can give action – I can testify it has worked against and subsequently for me. The difference between us and the fish is that we make these plays for a thought out reason.

This looks good, too dynamic of a flop to be slowplaying, plus you get a ton of value from villain’s overpairs and big draws. Nice hand.
