I never got that msg. Sorry, I am a little unsure as to Stars’ designations. Is Pokerstars.eu where UK players play currently? If so, then I never got that message.

I know this is a poker site and not a political debating forum,  but I am really beginning to second guess our decision to leave the EU.

I voted leave, not because I dislike being part of the EU…I like it. My kids are all born in Madrid and are Euro babies. And I work with a lot of Eastern European guys. They’re cool by me.

But unlimited immigration, when the bloc is expanding to incorporate Albania, Turkey and the like…

Simple economics people. A commodity is scarce, it’s price rises. A commodity is in abundance, it’s price falls. Cheap labour and unaffordable housing meant that the British were getting screwed in their own country, unable to get on the housing ladder. Meanwhile, I have Polish colleagues who tell me they have built mansions…literally…in Poland to retire in to, with the money they have made working in the UK.

It was not a fair balance.

There are two people who come off looking terrible and ridiculous. The first is David Cameron. We were used to being screwed over. For the love of all that’s holy however, don’t then ask us how we feel about it! They should never have put it to the vote.

And Jean Claude Juncker. He should have recognised the UK was  a special circumstance, and given us special conditions on immigration.

Now look at the mess.

Sorry…I won’t make a habit of non poker posts, I just really cannot fathom the mess we are now all in.

All I will say is when people vote to limit what technology and improved logistics can do, they get left behind. The problem is that trade agreements only accomplish half of the story. If you’re going to take away people’s jobs in developed nations, you need to also teach them something else to do. But that costs public money.

Here in the states many have similar thoughts regarding manufacturing and call center jobs, and instead of teaching displaced workers in the Rust Belt new skills, we’re letting them rot, because teaching them new skills would be a government program, and god forbid we spend taxpayer money. Curious what Chris Moon thinks because he’s from Michigan.

But it’s easier to just say “trade agreements bad,” and it’s led to the rise of conservative government in Australia, Brexit, and Donald Trump.

You know, I have asked a few times the in forums now whether TPE management minds me prattling on about all and sundry. Nobody (KB/RFB…even Andrew or Matt) has come on to tell me to rein it in a little. Nevertheless, I do not wish to “take the Mickey”. Whatever that means…

“The Rust Belt”. I have never heard that before, but I love it! Unfortunately, definite under-achiever that I am, I feel I belong/ am working on, the Rust Belt here in the UK.

Perhaps I really should start my own blog. Many people, some of whom should know and are involved professionally in the media, have strongly urged me,(even commissioned me informally), to start writing. Believe you me, I am a confirmed (proven) imbecile in every other aspect of my professional life, so I hope I do not sound big headed. Perhaps I really should listen to those guys and start writing some.

Nevertheless, I am hesitant to take up TPE web-space with non-poker related content.

But suffice it to say Joel… In my experience, professional and otherwise, the people actually employed to “manage” a company, for instance, are often, in my opinion, the least able.

I do not wish to insult the USA.

But really? These two Presidential contenders?

Of 319 million people, and these two are the best you can come up with? In my opinion, it is farcical.

This is the Leader Of The (Free) World we are talking about here.

My strong urge is to support Trump. Not because I feel or think that him becoming President would be a good thing for the world; rather, it is the demon in me which is curious as to the outcome of having such a complete loon as Leader Of The (Free) World!

It comes down to simple morbid curiosity… because I truly feel that in so far as the human race and the Earth is concerned…

…We are reaching the endgame.
