TPE Pro’s, Fellow TPE Members and of course you commoners…. as well,

I’ve been here on the site for a month and a half. I’d like to thank the Pro’s and my fellow members here on TPE; this site is an incredible asset to have added to my poker learning arsenal. It has brought a long list of books read, some reread, into a working physical example of how to play Texas Hold’em!

The Videos, Articles, and Pod casts in TPEU have been invaluable learning experience. They have improved my middle and late game considerably in a short time, my early game has always been good, but I must admit even it has improved. I look forward to a long prosperous entanglement with TPE….and wish everybody luck, but not as much as me. Still think Grads should get a “TPEU” patch!!??

In the forums I find intelligent questions and answers, I see no judgment. I like in the fact that the Pro’s normally don’t just give answers as answer with a question.  If I could remember precisely a hand and how it went down, I would post more, but changing any one card can make a difference and I wouldn’t get the answer I needed.

I have started a excel bankroll manager and have the basic design down, will soon add adjustments for a reserve account for taxes. Thinking about a macro that lets me know when my roll has sustained at or above a certain amount I can go pro. I shoot for next year., but I am ambitious.

Two weeks after I had started my journey here on TPE, have played in a Weekly live Micro tournament 4 times, and cash games twice. The Tournament is a $5 buy-in, with a $20 immediate add-on giving a total of 3K in chips and is a $5K GTD.  Live game was ½ NLH.

Game 1: 209 players: placed 65, 21 Payouts

Game 2: 205 players: placed 178th, really don’t have to worry about the 21 Payouts here either.

Game 3: 208 players: placed 28th , 7 away from cashing Bucking Fummer!

Cash Game 1: sat down with $100, walked with ¾ of buy-in

Cash Game 2: Sat down with $102, walked with more than double

Game 4: 209 players: placed 7th

It has since I started. The knowledge base is incredible, I admit the variance is a bummer sometimes.

You know, paying taxes on winnings? That would turn me off stone cold. So you don’t only need to beat the rake and most everybody at the tables, the Government also takes its rake? Man…that is tough.

To be fair though, in UK a professional poker player – if he/she derives the majority of their income from poker – also has to pay tax at 25 or whatever %, but I don’t think it is well enforced, or indeed enforceable.

Do you play cash also Ray? Seasoned veteran pros caution against “going pro” as solely a tournament player. I am not saying it cannot be done, but…just a word of caution.

For sure I can tell you are ambitious…that much is obvious!

And for sure you are right about the pros and members. Even recently, after watching Andrew’s latest series, I have realised I have put a couple of hands on the forums where I could have worked out the solution myself with a bit of work…probably to someone at TPE who has been here a while a couple of the hands I posted may have seemed basic…but not once have I felt judged… everyone has  just been extremely helpful.

My only criticism of the pros at TPE is that not more of them are more involved on the forums…Andrew and Matt seem to carry almost all of the weight, but then again I don’t know the business arrangements TPE has with its pros.

KB, Riceman,

Yes I see the same pros commenting on the forums as well. They’re not the ones that need help, well, as far as we know, otherwise they wouldn’t be much of a Pro.

I think the forums are for us to talk things out and for them to jump in when either it is a very difficult situation or the conversion is not heading in the proper direction.

Guys once again I must let the TPE members and Pros know how much I like paying for this site. I playing at SHRPO and in event 1 Day 1A with the knowledge I had and enhanced through this site has gotten me to day 2 with 304K in chips. Currently on Day 1E at 11am today I am in 7th place stack. My training here and previous experience has been invaluable and look forward to a final table soon. I hope it is this tournament. Here is a link to current chip stacks . Raymond Claus is the name to look for on chart.

Cheers,

Riceman,

I do play cash, but have issues I am working on. My tournament play is leaps and bounds better and is why I play more of those. I have gotten better at cash due to TPE but still need lots of work.

Cheers,

JP

aaahhh shucks!

I have not compared threads, but I recall Ray talking of a 304k stack which ended up badly.

Ray man…don’t leave us!

We all go through this sh*t!

We are here for the long term!
