At 25 min in the $89 tourn. is there ever the thought to call and then evaluate the flop? I do this with 9-9, 10-10, & j-j often because I get quite a few folds when I jam the flop, and if the flop is super ugly I can fold (I realize I might be folding the best hand occasionally). I am brand new here and lousy at nlhe. Maybe the smaller stakes I am playing is why this can work.

It’s good that you recognize you sometimes fold the bast on the flop when you do this – that’s part of why it’s not generally a good line with a medium pair. The other problem is that when your opponent folds, he’s generally correct to do so. For instance, if V were to check-fold AK here, that would be better for him than getting the rest of the money in against you (even though in this case he would get there on the river). It’s even worse if he folds something like 66 on T82. What I think you’re missing is that you don’t WANT fold equity with this hand. It’s very strong relative to your opponent’s range, and overall you benefit by getting the money in, even though sometimes he has hands (like this one) where you’re a flip, or even occasional hands that dominate you. But you don’t want to give him the opportunity to get away from hands you’re crushing, like smaller pairs or AT.

I have been wondering why all the sites have pros only winning at every session of cash and/or tounreys, it just can’t be….:-)
