2014 is upon us and everyone is making their resolutions for the new year. Now I’m not much for your standard resolutions.  I stopped saying I was gonna “lose weight” or “workout more” many years ago as I simply never accomplished any of them. That being said, I’m a big believer in goal setting in both your professional life and in poker.  Of course for some of you, those are the same thing. I won’t waste your reading time with my professional goals, but I will take a few minutes to lay out my poker goals for 2014.

Play 3000 Online MTTs

I’m basing this number off of my last 3 months of online play, since that is when I really started grinding more regularly again.  from September 1st – December 21st I played 1100 MTTs. That includes a buit of down time for the Holidays and for my surgery, but it also includes a very heavy two weeks of grinding for Poker Maximus so I’m saying those two wash each other out. With that in mind, I see no reason I can’t get in 3000 MTTs this year.

$50,000 in MTT profit

Over the same period mentioned above (September 1st – December 31st) I was able to profit $10,895 for an ROI of 26.70%. Average Buy In was $37.09 putting my total buy ins at $40,804.00.

This makes a goal of $50,000 in profit a bit aggressive, but I guess it would not be much of a goal if I was just trying to maintain the same level of success I had in 2013.

Go Deep in a WSOP Event

I’ll be playing 5-6 WSOP events in 2014, including the Main Event. That’s not many. But what kind of goals would they be if they did not involve a deep run in a WSOP event!  So there it is. Hell, I’m not even going to quantify what “deep” means, I’m just going with it!

Review One HH Every Two Weeks

I’ve set goals like this before. And I’ve never ever accomplished them. I’m a lazy student. So I’m making this one as easy to accomplish as I can. To make it easier, I am going to actually set aside a day and time in advance where I will do this review. Probably in the morning on the 15th and last day of every month, but that is TBD.

So that pretty much sums it up.  Do a little studying, put in the volume, profit.  Can’t go wrong, right?

I’ll let you know next New Years Eve!  Good luck us and follow me on Twitter!

Nice goals! Would love to see a new vid from you to see how you’ve progressed from the old Sticking it to the Man days.
