Hi guys,
I just purchased the Poker CoPilot HUD for Mac and wanted to know what HUD stats I should start with for Tournament Play. I am currently only running 3 stats: VPIP, PFR and # of hands played. I assume that is probably enough to get started.
I find since I seem to have trouble with getting solid reads on players and some post flop play, I was wondering which options you would choose to have displayed and why. Remember i'm new to HUD's and want to start out slowly.

P.S – I'm going to go back over RFB's HUD video as a refresher course but it would be nice to have a part 2 made at some point which could cover topics such as interpreting HUD stats, what the stats say about the players and how to adjust vs the many different player types…sorry i'm rambling lol.
Anyway cheers and keep up the great work fellas really loving the site and all the videos / interaction with the pros and everyone in the forums. 🙂

hands, VPIP, PFR, CBet, Steal % and 3bet % are the most important imo. Good idea on the part 2, as well!

stats i have:
hands, big blinds
VPIP, PFR, Agg, steal, 3bet, flop cb, fold to flop cb
all of these are colour coded – green = bad player, red = good player, orange = somewhere in between
in reality the one i look at most is the stack size one. it is extremely helpful that you can easily look at their stack size, it is the most important thing in a lot of situations. of course you can work it out roughly all the time but when you are 8 tabling it makes it a lot easier

I am surprised this is your first HUD! Dan Harrignton has a great book on online poker that has great detail on HUDs and stats. In fact the book is written around the fact. It is geared for cash games but the use of the HUD and stats are all the same. I highly recommend it. See below for a link.

I agree with praetor – I picked up Harrington on Online cash a couple of weeks ago and it has opened my eyes to what the stats actually mean and how to exploit them.
Stats I use:
VPIP/PFR/AS/FB
3B/F3/AF
CB/FC/TC/FT
AS = Attempt to steal
FB = Fold Big Blind to steal (I think I might change this to fold to steal)
F3 = Fold to 3 bet (I think I might add fold steal to resteal to work out good resteal spots)
AF = Aggression factor, which I then have sorted in Flop, Turn and River
CB = Flop C-bet
FC = Fold to flop Cbet
TC = Turn Cbet
FT = Fold to Turn Cbet
Most of these stats suggestions come from Harrington on Online Cash. What do other people think?
i also use poker copilot. i like to keep it as simple as possible for MTTs. you almost never have any real sample on players so i just use # hands, VPIP, PFR, BSA, 3b and fold to 3b.

Hi all,
I also just bought “Hold em Manager” and so far it just sits on my desktop and teases me. I will soon be able to set it up, but I have no clue what some of the stat acronyms stand for. “Mistergj” (above post) defines some of the stat acronyms, but then Hagbard thows out some more above. I would be greatful if someone would not only define what stat the semi-acronym means (example: AS = attempt to steal) but also add a sentence or two to tell us newbies what the stat should mean, or signal, to us.
Sorry for the run-on question, but I know I'm missing information out there that could help my game.

I go with a super simple HUD, but it includes M (or CSI):
M-factor/big blinds/#hands
vpip/vpr/agg factor
When I get into the close open shove/fold spots, I can hit the timebank, look at my M, and refer to the Kill Everyone charts. For more involved stats, if I have the sample size, I use the popup. I am considering adding the steal stats though.

Hi Andinista – What are these 'kill everyone' charts you are referring to and where do you get them? Are you talking about the poker book that was released a few years ago? I think I heard someone mention it on the forums here a while back. If i'm not mistaken, people were saying the charts don't really apply to todays online game..I could be way off on this tough.

I agree with conventional wisdom
here in that you rarely ever have enough sample size on a player to justify a
lot of the advanced stats that the hud can display. I also wanted to
point out a great tip Hagbard has given in a few of his videos about identifying
weak EP raisers using the Hud's more detailed overlay. A large majority
of the time in mid to late stages of tourneys you will be able to pick out a
player at the table really pressing from early position. It is a HUGE
help being able to three bet players like this light as it is incredibly rare
that anyone is playing back at a three bettor of an EP raise.
Along the lines of the kill
everyone charts I highly recommend checking out this spreadsheet for pushbot /
callbot ranges.
It is similar to the one RonFez
created for the MTT Math theory vid but much easier to use on the fly and also
has the pokerstove hand grid incorporated into it. Using this chart can
be a massive help if you feel your short stack game is lacking. You can also
customize it to your personal risk tolerance if pushing the smallest of edges
isn't your thing.
