I've been meaning to form some minimal mantra-like questions in to my game to avoid lazy-thinking-syndrome.

Great idea! I'm going to work that question into my decision making. I have a tendency to overgeneralize observed tendencies and asking "is my opponent balanced?" in each individual spot strikes me as a great way to work on correcting that kind of lazy thinking.

I've been thinking about this. My answer: Is my opponent balanced?

One of the GTO concepts I have learned from Andrew (and others) is that if we know nothing about an opponent, we can fall back to GTO principles.

But, the reality is, we always know something about our opponents. Especially live, we have demographics, and the way they handle themselves at the table, even before the cards are dealt.

Which gets me back to the more important question above. Any time your opponent bets or checks, we can ask it. Any time we are going to bet, or check we can ask whether they will be balanced in response to our action.

I believe Andrew referenced this in a recent article. But the key question to ask yourself, is, given that they are not balanced, how do we respond (exploit) that?

I am sure that going through this process would have helped on PIO6, as Andrew referenced.

Next time I play, that will be the question I ask myself before each action I take.
