I would consider your bankroll just that - your bankroll. In other words, its all one big pool although you have it spread out among different areas. As a couple of posters pointed out, you want to make sure that it doesn't get eaten up with miscellaneous fees if you need to transfer money from one place to another. Another issue to consider is how replaceable your bankroll may or may not be depending on your income from your regular job and your lifestyle.

This is the reason for my hesitation to mix live and online rolls. After quickly learning the hard way (grind $200 to $6k over 4 months and turn $6k into $0 in <4 days) I've never really struggled with BRM online, but with my live roll I was often guilty of dipping into it to pay for a night out or other extravagances. Obviously that's just my bias showing up in the advice, but if similar problems exist for other people then it might help to keep em seperate.

I agree with the other posts. If moving money around is easy, no reason to keep a lot online. And if you have bankroll discipline it shouldn't matter where the money is, meaning you can keep it offline. (But discipline is tough for a lot of people so if that's an issue, you just have to deal with it. No shame in that.)

This is definitely the key to your online roll question. If money is easy to move around, it's not really an issue. Similarly, if it is easy (and inexpensive) to cashout and reload, there is not a ton of reason to keep a lot of money online. Keep enough on to play your normal range of buyins and deposit and w/d as needed.

I keep my live bankroll seperate from my online roll, but that is due more to my specific circumstances as opposed to any real strategy.

Regarding multiple sites, I think it depends on how easy it is to move money between them. If you were to lose the $100 on 888 would it be hard (or would there be high fees) to move $100 from PS to keep playing 888? If not too hard, I think you can play as if they are the same site.

Live and online is a bit more blurry. I think that if you want to prioritize growing your online roll, you don't want to regularly dip into it to pay for live games. I think it would make sense to make a single withdrawal of ~$100 to use as your live bankroll, and treat the bankrolls as completely separate moving forward. Or make a plan to keep X $ in your live roll and move any profit beyond that back online.

Alternatively, keep your online roll intact and look for ways to limit your life expenses, saving a little bit each week or month that you can add to your bankroll. When I was in college, I put $20 into a shoebox every paycheck, and that eventually became my roll for playing $1/$2 at the local casino. Mind you, the first time I sat down with $200 it was my entire bankroll, so I had to start over filling the shoebox from $0 not much later...

Could anyone please give his opinion on this post?

The thought process behind this question inside my head is this: the home games are so soft. I have friends and colleagues from work which are playing cash games NL10 and SNG's(something like 8 to 18man, it depends) like 3$ R&A(I know, it's a weird structure, but there is a lot of value) something like once a week. I don't want to play those games until I have a bankroll. I played them before and I win a lot them, but I've done it from my salary, which is not that wise. I was thinking to grind those 1$ SNGMT's on Pokerstars until I reach the point of 500$. I'm not that far behind to reach that point. Even though I play online almost everyday, with only one or 2 days off from the tables, I want to have a quick boost on my BR to 1k-2k. If I use the BR from Pokerstars to play those soft live games, I can transfer a small part from my entire BR to 888poker, where I can find softer and smaller fields then Pokerstars in the MTT's at low stakes. At that point I can run my BR on both sites, trying to reach the midstakes again ASAP, so I can comeback from where I left 2 years ago.

Is this OK to do it or is completely wrong? In the past I used my BR only to play online(on Pokerstars), so that's why I have some doubts about my strategy.

Any work of advise will be highly appreciated!

Hey Guys,

I was wondering and I don't think I found any advise about this anywhere. How do you suggest to proceed in case of multiple bankrolls? Let's say I have 300$ on Pokerstars and 100$ on 888poker. Should I consider them separate bankrolls or should I take them as my whole bankroll for online poker? What is your opinion on this? e.g.: with a 300$ on Stars I should play 1$ SNGMT's and with 100$ on 888poker I should play 1$ 18-man, OR I should consider my bankroll 400$ for online poker and play 3$ & 5$ single-table SNG's on 888poker until I have a proper bankroll to jump into MTT's

Going deeper into the problem: if I decide that I want to take a shot at live poker, should I consider this live playing bankroll separate from my online bankroll or should I take it as a whole? e.g.: I have 500$ on online poker. Should I cash out some amount from there and play the softer NL10 home games to boost my whole bankroll? Or should I keep the 500$ on the internet and invest some separate money for live play?

What are your thoughts on this? How do you manage your bankroll? Personally, I think a whole online bankroll and a separate live bankroll is the best approach, but I want others opinions too, just to be sure that I'm not going to do something stupid .
