"Hell yeah I am second chip leader"

"Hmm, wow I can't believe this aggrofish shoves this river. Does he really have to represent the nuts here? Nah, I'll make that hero call, then I'm chip leader by far AND busted this aggro guy."

"Daemn , he really had it. Back to 44/95 again".

This and other not as obvious spew-ups have happened to me quite a few times. I think it this is often the case, when you play your A-game, feel very comfortable, make the right decisions AND run good. Then suddenly you notice you run very well in the tourney and start thinking about the FT and the prize-money. Suddenly you are out of the zone but you still think you should win every pot. And bam... it happens.

Some advice from the pros would be nice, though.

Good subject. Me too. Have progressed from getting deep to getting deep w a stack, then last week bubbling the tournament I play every morning 3 days in a row, then a min cash, then FTs 2 days in a row for 4th and then 3rd place. I am 5th of 52 in chips in it right now as a matter of fact (lol). Anyway struggling with weilding a big stack once I get it. I had a ridiculously huge stack/chip lead thru one entire tournament and somehow at the FT whittled my stack down to finish 7th. Sounds like we are all making progress to be discussing this tho 🙂 Thx & GL

I have the same issue as buttmunch. I am getting deeper in the MTT's that I have been playing at a much better rate. The issue is right to the bubble and tend to tank too. Mentally, I can't seem to beat it. I am the same deal. One thing I started paying more attention is the stack size and not worry about the tournement life. I watched Danny's Turbo series and so I tend to just try and pay attention to the timeclock when blinds increase and really work hard at maintaining at least 20-25 BB and try to maintain it. Slowing down and not try to take the whole house but continue to be aggressive to my stack.

I hope that makes sense. I haven't figured it out. I ran deeper but still got sucked out today in all my sessions about 10 people before ITM. I was in 4 MTT's and it happened to me all 4 times. I mentally tank.

Possibly make a note of the playing style you need to adopt through out different periods of a tournament. Its like driving a car around a race track. There are periods where you need to accelerate, brake and take risks etc.

Make a plan for how you think you will need to play at each stage of the tournament and also the possible stack sizes you may have, then look back and see how you have been playing in these situations compared to your new checklist.

Good Luck!

this will happen when you play this style but when you start noticeing all your bubbles become cashes and your ft bublles become fts and your 7th or 8th place finishes becom top 3s then you know your on the right track. Never take your foot off the pedal but dont spew in the process.

Now that I have become a better it hasn't come without it's pitfalls, I now see the profitable spots to 3bet steal, float, double barrell etc... which is good.

HOWEVER

I am starting to blow up a big stack 40 - 150 people out as I just seem to have my foot to the metal the whole way and obviously get caught at some point and am left wondering how I've done it!!!!!!

Anyone else have this problem? anyone overcome it?

when we're ITM should we then start slowing down a bit after we've built a stack in the mid ante period and on the bubble?

Please help as constanly butchering decent stacks for a min cash is starting to make my laptop worried it's getting thrown at the wall soon!

Cheers
