I thought Jamie did a great job.

I never really bought into the mental stuff - but I can definitely see how his ideas/thought processes/methods could help people keep an even keel in a game this vicious.

Well done, sir.

I play differently when I'm in a confident mood as compared to when I feel tilted/gambly. I honestly think we know when we're going to make the final table vs. the other times even if you have a huge stack somehow you see yourself busting due to various physical or mental reasons. The nature of MTT's can easily bring a player to frustration in and outside of poker as the wins dont come often.

What are the most effective ways in which we can develop and train our mind so that 1) we can stay at a cool state of mind throughout a tournament and 2) the pressure doesnt' build and get in the way of playing the best when we're deep? I hope my issue is relevant to your expertise. Also, let us know of any good reads relevant to this mental aspect.

In one of your posts, you talked about turning down your focus between hands as a way of keeping mental stamina for long sessions.

i think this is a great idea, but i sometimes wonder whether you might miss some potentially useful information that could be gained from watching two other people play a hand.

you could say that it would be better to tune back in when a big pot develops, but it might be something really small about someones game, i.e them cutting out a raise differently when they have a monster etc that could be crucial later in the tournament

where do you find that balance?

MTT players grind for longer hours than most cash game players. This can be especially difficult because many times we will find ourselves deep in our last couple of tournaments and we need to make it happen, but we have already been grinding 10 hours or even more at times. What are some good ways to keep your mind sharp before or during a long session and ensure that you stay focused?

I have a question that should be useful to a lot of our new members.

What are some good cognitive tools for players at the beginning of their poker
explorations? What can they do to give themselves a mental edge in the
beginning? Many players only seek to improve their mindset after a major
breakdown or after they break the roll for the first time. Let's work on the
mindset from the beginning.
