Reading Jared Tendler is a must for everyone. Aside from that, I strongly recommend adding some form of SNGs to your schedule - not only so you can learn good push/fold poker and ICM, but also so that you can have at least one game at which you are comfortable pumping out decent amounts of volume when in a downswing, and adding into your regular schedule to supplement MTTs and minimize variance.

If you're exclusively playing microstakes MTTs on Stars, you are going to be the victim of an astronomical level of variance. I say victim, because even if you run good, it will hurt you in the long run if you develop unrealistic expectations from poker and/or fail to recognise your own skill level. Embrace variance, accept it, and do your best to minimize it - that's all you can do.

Just come off of a major downswing in micro MTT's and my bankroll had dropped below an imaginary line in the sand I had drawn under which I had decided I would close it down for a while and maybe just study this game I love instead of playing so much. I decided to put in a good grind over the weekend though and thankfully binked a small omaha mtt for first Friday evening followed by two final tables - a second and a third in hold em to boost my bankroll back up to a playable level. I really played tight early on, tried to pick really good spots in position, stole some blinds, ran a couple of insane bluffs when I had a really tight image and held on.

Yesterday evening with a refreshed roll set up some MTT's and promptly busted in all of them. Got to love variance lol. I think when I come off a good stretch I forget how hard it was to go deep and how disciplined you have to be. It's like I want to win all hands that I decide to enter and almost expect to instead of reacting to the table and then start to bluff too much. I get frustrated when I get blinded down and lose patience. Not exactly happy tilt - sort of the opposite.

Does anyone else experience this and should I just take a break after a couple of wins or adjust my attitude?
