Hey Benny, your plan looks perfect above.

I played around with CamStudio a bit and realized there is a "save to swf" button. This might solve the problem with quicktime running in the browser. I tested and it seems to work well.

Right now i can't get the window to resize but i will have our programmer look at it in the morning.

guys, i think i am ready to relaunch the member review videos, here is how i plan to go about it

1. start a thread telling everyone that the study group is relaunched and let them know how to upload a video.

2. as part of this, first person to upload their video will get reviewed first.

3. subsequent uploads by people will get reviewed on a weekly basis, and i will choose who is the next video to get reviewed. this will mostly go in order of uploading but significant weight will be given to people who review other's videos, and you wont get a vid reviewed until you have made a significant review effort in at least one other video. if i think some video is particularly interesting/significant/different i might bump it up the list.

i think its best to leave it as an open ended group so there will be no "members" as such, which will encourage people who can only contribute occasionally

any other ideas? if not, i will go ahead with this in a few hours and try and get the ball rolling

im afraid i cant do much better than that without using camtasia.

any ideas RFB/preator?

ok, so i have had another go, and i have got some pretty decent quality for around 100 meg per hour for an avi file - this is for someone reviewing their play using the universal/HEM replayer, with a resolution of 1024x768, which fits the replayer nicely.

i have used camstudio, virtualdub and the xvid codec.

i will make a quick vid on what i have done, and if you want to make a better "official" vid i am cool with that also, but this is a 5 minute hack's version of it so that people can get started.

hey,

if you could do the video tutorial (or even a text based one would suffice i think) that would be excellent - i have spent about 90 minutes tonight mucking around with it, and i couldn't stop the picture from flickering, and in any case the size was about 8 meg per minute which is obviously too high.

thanks

Oh that makes a lot of sense. Camstudio is pretty simple actually does not give you a ton of options. However, a video is definitely better than just typed instructions. If you find you are short on time I can do the video if you like. Great idea.

1. things you need to download - camstudio, universal replayer/hem, codec

2. settings for camstudio

3. show people how to set the screen up so that it shows only the replayer

4. show them how to upload to their own member blog
