Hi All,

Thanks for the replies. It is nice how people send replies to even a noobie like me:)

So, after receiving the comments I decided to run some statistics on my HM.

oelshitshow> How many tournaments are in your database/hand history? If it's not that many yet, it could just be luck.

After about 150 games and 7000 hands (1/1/2016 - 1/26/2016), my ROI% is stable at -40, while my ITM% is 20. It seems that I place at the bottom of the ITM (4th -7th) a lot. I may not be playing aggressively enough in the late game and on the bubble.

Thanks for the advice. Right now I only analyze the hand I busted and maybe 1 or 2 big pots. This is probably not helping me at all. But on the other hand I don't want to over-analyze my hands and fall into the noobie trap of result-oriented analysis ("I would've hit the set on the turn if I called the raise", etc). I guess I need to watch one of those hand analysis videos on TPE.

icantmtt>If you want more play, the 18,27 and 45 man regular sit gos are a good bet.

Yup, I think I am calling way too much trying to make Hero calls too often. I always find myself short stacked during the mid/late stages of the games, so I need to grow some balls and start taking more risks.

Also, I decided to take a look at my basic stats based on 7900 hands.

Compared to the data pool shown on the HM website (although the data pool is for 6 max SNG this will have to do), it seems that I am playing too aggressively post flop (agg%, CBet% is all above the optimal median). Since my showdown percentage is high (WTSD% is above optimal median), I think a lot of people call with anything at these micro stakes and I should probably stop C-betting with completely nothing against certain players.

I wish more can be said from these numbers but that is really beyond my current capability...

Conclusion and Next Steps

I'll adjust my game based on everyone's advice (thank you!) and stat analysis.

Since this is a "Goals and Challenges" thread, my current goal will be to make positive ROI in 45 man regular $1 SNGs starting from now untill the end of February.

I should also start doing more analysis but, before I do I want to learn HOW to analyze my play so I don't end up in a "the blind leading the blind" situation (where I am both the leader and the follower).

Thank you for everyone's comments, and hopefully I'll have the will to keep on updating this thread!

Background

Hi everyone, this is my first post here at TPE. I started poker about half a year ago and registered to this site about a month ago. Ever since I registered I have been watching videos on this site and playing poker on a daily basis.

Field

50 cents 45-man turbo SNG (2-3 games almost every day)

Strategy

I think I have the same basic strategy as everyone else: play nitty for first 2 levels, loosen up as blinds get higher, and start shoving "Nash" when short stacked.

I usually analyze 1-2 key hands per SNG. I don't really go crazy with the analysis and try to stick to the very basics (Nash, c-betting, pot size control, etc).

The Problem

I just can't get positive ROI. I will ITM sometimes, but not frequently enough to make positive ROI. Money is not really an issue at such a micro stake but I want to become a better poker player and start playing at higher levels. I know this is a very general question, but what should I be doing to improve my game to get positive ROI at this stake (should I be playing in a different field, analyzing hands more rigorously, etc) ?
