Stop press;

Stars have scrapped the new structures in the 180s today, probably due to the uproar on 2P2. We are now back to the old structures again.

I looked at them last night and I can see the former 5 min levels playing the same as the new 3 min levels with a reduction in the blind escalations. Even with the new blind levels I'm not sure 6 min (new structure) will play the same as 15 min (old structure $4)...I'll have to test a few out.

It also seems that the sched for scoop caters more to Euro players and not Canadians as much...

I've had a look on 2P2, there' a big thread about the changes to the 180s, most regs are unhappy, but I still quite like these new 6 minute structures myself. BTW there are more levels than before.

Yep, my bad shout. I stand corrected. I reg.d for a tourney and found it had 6 minute levels, I assumed it must be a turbo, shocked to discover now that it was actually a regular 180 which used to have 15 minute levels.

The non-turbo 180s now have 6 minute levels, the turbo 180s have 3 minute levels. So everything is now actually faster. There doesn't appear to be anything with levels longer than 6 minutes. I'll try both the 6 minute and 3 minute structures and see what I prefer. The 3 minute tournies must be mayhem.

The turbos now have a 3 min blind structure. The tourneys your playing with 6 minutes are the normal speed SnGs that used to be 15 min blinds. So although they're not officially turbos, they do play like turbos. Making me very unhappy since I was ripping apart the old 15 min tourneys since black Friday.

I'm playing in some of these today for the first time in a week or two. There have been a couple of changes;

1. Buy-ins and rake have changed, the rake is now slightly higher at the smaller stakes, ie $3.00+0.30 is now $3.00+0.38.

2. More importantly, the structures have been changed. These 180s are now much less hyper than before, there are more levels, the levels are now 6 minutes from 5, antes don't kick-in until level 10. The period where post-flop play is possible before everybody moves into shove/fold mode is much longer. As these will now be less of a lottery I expect there is a good chance the skill edge TPE members have will make these popular tourneys even more profitable than before, the only drawback is reduced volume.

It's a shame that Cougar's excellent $3r series is already somewhat out-of-date.
