I was in the top 20 most of it till 40 left...... then took a beat vs a big stack, but ended up busting a bit later.  

Btn opened, a well known NJ pro and I'm in the bb w/ QQ and 13bb.  JAM time, but ran into KK.  

So far so good.  58th in the 1k event on Tuesday and last nights 33rd.  Really thought last night I had a chance. 

Lots of fun being at teh #1 feature table for a while.  Carlos Welch was at teh #2 table with a few pros.  

Back at it tonight and other good small buying the next 3-5 days.

Poker History:
I have been a member for over a year, but I am just now starting to use the forum.

I started playing in 2003 and moved to online in 2005. I began at 9 man SNGs, moved to MT SNGs (which is when I signed up for TPE), and now I am playing MTTs on Merge. I have played a little live cash and even less online cash.

Overall I have been profitable, but I was an 8th grade math teacher in Atlanta, Ga for the last 5 years and have come back around to trying to do mtts to eek out a small living (2-3K monthly) to supplement my other streams of income. I am single with no kids and I live very cheaply so I am very comfortable with this.

Safety net:

I have about 3 months of expenses saved in liquid accounts and another 3 months that I can get within 30 days. I also work part time as a math tutor and dj. If that is slow, I can take a few days as a substitute teacher. Worst case scenario, I still have my teaching certificate so I could get a contract very quickly because math teachers are always in high demand.

Goals:

- A yearly profit of at least $30 000.

- Average 5 days a week and between 10-15 tournaments each of those days

- Im rolled for games up to $11. I will mostly play $5 games and lower to start out though. I will play sattys in order to take shots at bigger games.

- I may also play some small stakes and live cash to improve my post flop game.

- Actively improve my game by watching videos, discusssing and posting hands, reviewing my own game

- Spend the summer in Vegas to grind the small sattys and play at least one real $1000-$1500 WSOP event.

- Possibly play some smaller events at casinos in the south.

A quick bit about me.  I have just come back from a long break, my mum played playmoney poker online.  When she passed it was pretty hard to carry on with my hobby.  But eventually I stopped caring that she had died and was able to play again.  I know that might sound very harsh, she was my best friend for 50 years, so maybe compared to a lot of people I still care. But everything is relative, and compared to how I was a year or so ago... I do not care... as much

Tip number 1. 

If something is stopping you from enjoying playing, wait until you do not care.

I have restarted by playing freerolls mostly.  They are fun, and as I write this I have just woke up after being knocked out of the $33 ($300k guaranteed) WPT 3 day event... at pretty much the end of day one.  I freerolled the ticket through sattys.  I got knocked out because AJo called my AKs.  The best player won.  His stack was about 100bb, mine was closer to 10bb.  I just did my own thing, made a ton of errors, and as such I pretty much maintained my stack for about 5 hours or so.  Now I can not say for certain the other guy was better than me, but it is my first week back and he would have had to be the luckiest player in the world to be worse than me with that stack.

Tip number 2.

If you lose a tournament to a worse hand, you need to get better at poker.

In the meantime I will continue bashing the freerolls and micros.  The micros are of course being played with their money, not mine.  I like to focus my time on what my strengths are.  I am a bankroll nit that likes learning, so I should be a great bankroll nit that learns a lot.  I am not really into stats any more, I know that a lot of players are and I know some players will spend all day and night looking at stats of their own game.  I have done that, I did not enjoy that, I just enjoy learning in my own way.  When I think back all those decades to when I was in school I am sure I learned more from the teachers that I enjoyed being in class with... mainly because I didn't even go to classes I did not like.

Tip number 3.

Learn in a way you enjoy, there is truly no other way.

I suppose I should add how much I have earned in this first week back, I am not totally sure... I am a bankroll nit but not possessed by decimal points.  I guess it is around $20 in cash and around the same again in tickets still to be used.  I intend to update this thread with more of my mental thoughts as time goes on. 

Total profits this week, I dunno, about $40 in cash and tickets is a rough guess.

I want to build my bankroll a bit.

Starting with 100 Dollars, next goal 500.

Playing 1 Dollar 18,45,90,190 man Tourneys and occasional 11 Tourney Satellites.

Am I blind?

I would prefer Party Poker but they do not offer the desired games, or do they?
