Very cool of Mike to offer some Vegas local hookups to our fellow TPE members.

I too am local and will help any of you guys with anything i possibly can, during the WSOP.

I'm headed out in a few weeks to hopefully satellite into the Main Event.  Any suggestions the best way to get in, and which videos here will help me out?  I'm thinking either the $500 mega or just fire the STS's.

If you are particularly good at SNGs - i.e. you have the short-handed skills necessary to close - then you should opt for that route. A lot of the variance in this proposition is simply who ends up at the table you happen to register for. So if you think you're better than most people at this tournament variety, it's a no-brainer. Quick and easily repeatable.

For someone who has most of their experience at MTTs, super-satellites have to be a better option because, although you need to outlast more villains, you are NOT required to win all the chips to win the seat. Correct strategy in the "mega" will require good stack-size awareness and dramatic gear-shifting, so there will be people making all sorts of wrong adjustments.

Whichever path you follow, your long-run target-event discount will be equal to your theoretical "edge" on the field. So it all depends where you see your edge coming from.

Personally, I always prefer a satellite proposition with more seats awarded, since I think I will make better decisions than my competition as the bubble approaches...

I personally would skip the daily tournaments and play some of the smaller events.  You get way more for you money and shots at bigger cashes.

I will be playing WSOP sattys 5/29 - 5/31 while I am at the Gold Coast and then some $125 tournies at the Nugget 6/1 - 6/2 since I will be staying at the Las Vegas Hotel and Casino for the weekend. After that I will rent a room in someone's house near the Rio and grind sattys all summer.
