Love the idea, absolutely love it! As a new player with alot to learn staring down the wrong end of the learning curve this idea gets my full support.

When i watch a training video i like to have pokerstove on my second monitor so i can pause the video and assign a player(s) a range and then eliminate possible holdings on the flop, turn and river and see if i still have their specific hand highlighted in pokerstove at showdown. Sometimes im right sometimes im not even close.

I think having a worksheet infront of you would encourage the learning process because i imagine its all too easy to watch a pro play a hand, listen to their analysis and just sit there and say "yep, totally agree, Great play!"
Plus i think it would be awesome to add a little note section to the bottom of each worksheet just so we could add the date, any points or concepts we werent comfortable with then come back to re-do the lesson a few months later.

Having those before and after worksheets that shows how our games improved will only encourage us to work harder to improve.

I totally agree these type of lessons wont appeal to everyone so would probably fit best in their own "back to school" series or maybe take a pro's 4 part series and add a 5th part specifically regarding the worksheet then any member not interested could simply gloss over part 5.

Wether TPE can / do implement any of your idea, well, we'll just have to wait and see. Either way its a great suggestion that i think alot of us members would benefit from.

I have been really loving the new theory series by merby and also Andrew Brokos, and I was thinking how much like a classroom they were, which i think is really beneficial.

I think these videos would be enhanced if there was an accompanying worksheet. A few times Andrew asks us to pause his video and have a think about a possible range. I think it would be great if you could print out a worksheet that you could physically write your guess on etc. It just increases the active learning part of the video rather than just a passive sit back and watch approach.

Similarly for merby's latest video you could provide a question sheet with questions on how to calculate pot odds, how to count outs, how to work out your equity in the long hand form, etc etc etc. And have answers and working out that you could check your answers against.

I dont think it would take that long to knock up and i think it would be hugely beneficial. I also think it would be a first for training sites as far as i am aware.

you could even extend it to other live sweat vids etc, where you could ask a question about the concept in the vid. i.e why does big dog advocates betting on dry boards (made up example) or something, and he obviously explains this in the vid.

I know some people wont like the "back to school" approach but i for one would get a lot out of it. In my fantasy land this would then be extended to a poker cirriculum, where you could take different courses in different concepts, watch vids on that concept and then answer a question sheet on it, and they would range from beginner to really advanced.

Thoughts?
