I typically play $11 buy ins and lower, sometimes $33’s and I find when I raise w/ a hand like AJo with a bunch of limpers I NEVER get folds and now I’m playing a bloated pot early with a mediocre hand

    Congratulations Carlos,

After listening to the Carlos Ascendant podcast, I was hoping you guys would do a hand history review, the podcast was hilarious, so I’m looking forward to this series

I deleted nokturnal’s comment by mistake when I tried to move mine.

He wanted to know what we would do with 33 after limp re-raising in a blind vs blind spot if called.

I’d be lost, so I’ll let Andrew answer that. I prefer the limp reraise mostly at times when stacks are short enough for it to be all in.

It’s extremely flop dependent, but an unimproved pocket pair is generally a bad bluffing hand, so definitely checking more often than not.

I get the concern here, that you’re going to be out of position with a poor bluff-catcher, but that’s true no matter how you play 33. Limp-raising has the virtues of sometimes resulting in you playing a very small pot and sometimes winning a decent-sized pot pre-flop. Unlike many hands that you could limp-reraise, 33 has a reasonable chance of smacking a flop very hard.

It’s not that I love limp-raising 33, it’s that I think it’s slightly better than the alternatives. There’s not some amazing, super-profitable way to play 33 when it folds to you in the SB with reasonably deep stacks.

Hey Andrew and Carlos, just finally got around to joining this site! Possibly dumb question right off the bat, how does your review have every players’ hole cards for every hand? Doesn’t Bovada keep that information hidden unless the hand in question gets to showdown? Thanks.

Los, when you donk rip that riv w/ 3’s full are you just praying he has an over pair here? did you think he had a hand strong enough to call but not v bet? Anybody else out there ever take this line? im not sure what kind of plays i would be making with this line.

  8. Carlos

I expected him to think I was full of it and call with top pair and maybe even some slightly weaker hands. The line was bad because he often has nothing there and I need to give him a chance to bluff his air.

Awesome video guys, really interesting stuff!
One thing i noticed at 43:22 was that with that QTo he did not check raise as said but only raised that time on the turn. probably doesnt matter though 🙂

I would not. I am concerned about balance though, so i would do it with other strong hands that don’t necessarily want to see a flop like 99-QQ and AKo.
