hey guys a couple of things here giving me issues i want to resolve asap.
1 i am a nit tag ,i want to really open up my game but cant seem to pull the trigger and 3 bet with crap etc like the bigdog etc displays in his videos ,i play under $10 mtts only ,dont know if this is relevant or not but ive watched alot of videos ,all the theory vids and bigdogs early stages etc .
2 i am getting deep alot of times and same as above blind down then make a move and then my aj or a9 gets called and loses to a higher kicker, i am not scared to lose or bust ok but just finding it hard to 3 bet shove ,open shove when im deep and its really annoying me .i was gonna play smaller buyins like 2-5$ and be really aggressive for a change but i think im needing some guidance as to what might be the most beneficial positive step to make .ive been a member here for a long time and love this site to bits ,i work fulltime as combustion engineer and have a 9 yr old son so i have to balance life ,work and most importantly POKER ,so i will take all recommendations into consideration ,and if i can ghost ye all so much better ,ok good luck to you all .mavman
when playing, it's important to experiment from time to time with your game. especially in todays game, where it seems to evolve constantly…as far as “pulling the trigger” , what that comes down to is expanding your comfort zone…force yourself to make that 3 bet when you KNOW it's a good spot but get too scared at the last minute and click the fold button…as you keep experimenting, you will find yourself in lots of tricky spots, but this is a good thing because it will help you think about the game on a higher level…im not saying to go out there and just start 5 betting like a mad man, but just start to test new plays out…try not to mimic what the TPE pros do on the videos…but rather take something small from each player and that you think they do well and work it into your game…eventually, you will develop a style that you feel comfortable playing…
as far as 3 bet shoving goes, it really all depends on your opponents opening range…example: your in the SB with A5s with 13 bbs, and the button, an aggro player whos been opening a lot, with 40bbs, opens for a min raise…a spot like this is just an auto 3 bet jam…you are way ahead of his button range…if he happens to have a10, aj, aq, ect…so be it…you made the right shove, a positive play in the long run, and thats all you can do…as you play more and more, and really pay attention to peoples opening ranges/shoving ranges/ and calling ranges…the 3 bet shoves will become 2nd nature to you…as far as open shoving is concerned, just refer to shoving charts and you will learn all the positive EV shoves from all positions..
and the most important way to get better is to play fewer tables…when focusing on 2 or 3 tables at full concentration, you will learn so much more…playing the shove/fold game will only take you so far in poker…todays game is all about post-flop play and understanding ranges…so in case you multi-table a lot…try dropping some tables and i guarantee you, you will start seeing better results…just jeep working hard, and the results will come…hope this helped…gl

This really is fantastic advice. You aren't just going to magically become a 3b machine like the bigdog. Slowly work it into your game as you are playing fewer tables. Make a conscious effort to make a few plays each session that are out of your comfort zone. If you aren't trying some new things here and there you will be stuck and not have many different gears to make other opponents fear you. The most important thing is realize plays arent going to work sometimes. If you decide to make an elaborate move with J7o and run into the top of someones range it doesn't make the move wrong necessarily. People are going to wake up with hands sometimes we just have to look back and try and make sure it was the right time for that play and we just got unlucky to run into the top of someones range.

i think the first thing you must get over is the thoughts of busting or losing chips. in todays game its so easy to get chips back that making these plays are made easy by this fact and the fact that you can just fire up another tourney if you bust makes it easy as well, its not like driving an hour to your local casino for there noon daily and you dont want to gift off chips just get into the aggressive mind set and remember its 10$ and let them have it. 90% of 3 and 4 betting is done through creativity not whats assumed to be standard imo. Dont wait create

Play a bunch of $1 and $2 tourneys to practice new stuff…this way you aren't feeling bankroll pressure.

Could someone point me in the direction of this chart please? I've seen it on here before but can't think where and I wouldn't mind a little refresher.
