Just Like Riding A Bike

Starting off Tuesday after a solid weekend at the tables again feels ooooooo sooooo good! Got to throw down a sweat post in the forums for the first time in a while and I have to say it felt damn nice. Managed a solid 4th place finish in a $2.20 PL HA tourney on Friday which felt really good. I managed a little run good in the mid stage of the tourney during an Omaha level which really catapulted my stack to a top 5 stack and I was in cruise control from there. Here's the hand as best I can remember it: Gman: AhQhTs9d on the button PreFlop: MP limps, CO limps, I limp behind, SB folds, BB checks. Flop: Qc Jh Ks:  MP checks, CO pots it. I call with the straight and a potential redraw to a flush [More...]

The Vegas Summer Begins

Waking up at 6:30 am was not how I planned for the summer to begin, but since I did, I figured I might as well start things off in a productive fashion and get a blog post done. I arrived at the TPE house at 2 PM yesterday.  Cougars and Bigdog had already arrived and had pizza waiting for me.  The house we are staying at is really nice.  5 bedrooms and plenty of "living area" to hang.  We also have a pretty sick game room with a pool table, blackjack table and a big 50" television.  I suspect we'll be spending some quality time in there…but lord willing I won't be losing any money to bigdog in pool.  I'll get a video tour of the house up in the near future so you can see how team TPE is [More...]

Please Pardon my Soapbox

Morning all. I figured that since I didn't play last night (took my mom out to dinner for her birthday) I would still sit down and do a little writing. I will apologize now to everyone, but going to get up on my soapbox here for a little bit. I suspect that I will be preaching to the choir, but an attentive room of people listening makes me feel important, even if it is only in my head As we are all aware the online gaming and poker world has changed substantially in the last 6 weeks. April 15th, 2011 was a day that will forever change a lot. I don't want to dwell on the player situations or aspects as I think the poker world has done a good job covering and debating that. What I did want to [More...]

First Few Days

Well it is certainly nice to be back and writing, hopefully whatever mystery readership I had is still out there, otherwise this is just a fancy way of me talking to myself. So I have been slowly trying to re-integrate myself into the game. Playing free money has changed some of what I was adapting too and playing against so I am making adjustments. For those who haven't played on the free money side or haven't in a very long time, let me refresh. First, take everything you understand about the game and flush it, going to be useless. Okay, not really true. But you get where I am going. The average opponent you will face on the free side is going to be very loose and appear very aggressive. In reality there is a huge element of wrecklessness that [More...]

The Gman is Back Baby!

Dear TPE Nation,   You have absolutely no idea how good it is to be back. I am back in action on Lock Poker. I have tried and struggled mightily with the Freeroll challenge. I had a host of strong finishes, in the Top 50's in the NLHE and PLO games which was incredibly exciting, validating my tourney play is still solid, just couldn't seal the deal with the terrible play and bink one. Sad to say, I abandoned step one to jump across the line and get back to the play that makes me happy. So I am back on the money side of life so thank you to Bigdog for introducing me to Lock Poker and I'm looking forward to working on Merge. I have my Rakeback going and I am back at the cash tables working on [More...]

New Deal

Hey guys. As you may or may not have heard I recently just singed a new deal with Lock Poker. Its a nice relief after dealing with that nightmare that was the CEREUS network. I no as representitives of the site we have to take responsibillities for our choice of representing that site. No matter how good your intentions are sometimes they turn out pretty horrific. Thats why Im so thrilled with the LOCK POKER deal. The owner of the site has been absoutely fantastic to deal with. She is all about the people she wants to make poker on lock the most enjoyable experience possible. That rubs off on all the people she works with including the pro's. I am joining a group of well established pro's some of them I have met in the past and not only [More...]

Business as Usual

Despite the recent changes in the poker landscape, it’s business as usual for the bigdog.  I was able to take 2nd recently in the Poker Stars Sunday 500 for $42K and then a few days later took 2nd in FTOPS #31 for almost $11K. Along with a few other decent sized scores it was a good April overall.  SCOOP is now in full swing, and I’m looking forward to closing out May in strong fashion before heading to Las Vegas for the 2011 World Series of Poker.  Myself and the rest of the crew from Tournament Poker Edge have a house together and it’s going to be a fun summer.  I plan to play a ton of WSOP events as well as some events over at the Venetian Deep Stack series.  Some people have asked what “Black Friday” means for [More...]

Every New Beginning

"Every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end." – Seneca I think I have recovered. The shock of Black Friday has passed. The sun still seems to be coming up every day and I'm playing poker again. I made a $500 deposit on Carbon Poker in early May in hopes that I could occasionally fire up a tournament or two. To my surprise, the action has been pretty good. I've seen nearly 12,000 players online during peak hours and they have a respectable tournament schedule for starting up a new roll. Plenty of $2-$11 tournaments with decent structures.  The highest buyin I have been playing (with the exception of a misclick $11r registartion) is the $16.50 they run in the evening. Although I have had little success in it so far, I would also suggest hitting up the their nightly [More...]
