I was just wondering if there was a thread anywhere that talked about HUD interpretation of stats. I was told to use what the default was set at which VPIP, PFR, PF Agg Factor, and 3bet. I’m fine with leaving it at that and learning as I go, but what specifically am I looking for in the default stats to exploit?

Much Appreciated

Phil

There’s no specific answer anyone can give you – it’s too general. However, with each stat there will be a natural assumption to be made, if you’re able to compare them to the average stat you might see in that department.

For example, someone whose VPIP is much higher than average and whose PFR is much lower is likely to be a very passive player, so you should value bet more against them and bluff less. What constitutes ‘average’ depends on what kind of games you’re playing in, which site you play on, whether it’s 6-max or 9-max, etc. You can only really learn what average is for your games through experience, or through analysing your HM2 or PT4 database.

I have been searching for a HUD thread as well. I have quite a few stats in mine and am looking for ways to improve it or ideas based on what other people find useful.

In cash games I’ve been using the one hem2 calls “Harrington advanced”

ive customized my tournament hud to resemble the Harrington adv as well, mostly the street by street ag numbers. Here’s the whole thing:

vpip/pfr/steal/fold2steal/limpfold

3bet/foldto3b/totalag/flopag/turnag/riverag

cb/fold2cb/foldtoturncb/overallcheckraise

m/bb/wtsdwsf%

your first thought is probably that this is overkill, but keeping with it I’ve found it pretty effective. Sorry to thread jack but maybe a bump and some input will turn this into a productive hud conversation….

I think 70% of a HUD’s value comes from telling us what type of player we’re playing against. Especially when mass multi tabling or playing on Bovada.

Many edges are had with deeper analysis of HUD data, no doubt. Obviously that doesn’t help us much on Bovada.

Positional awareness is a stat I picked up from Foucault videos, and I think its pretty useful. Its a good stat when playing against “regs” on WPN.

My hud has VPIP-PFR-3B-Positional Awareness. If I need more info I click to the popup.

3b stat isn’t super valuable as 3betting is very stack size and situation dependent. It can be a “red flag” that tells you something quickly about a random player, however.

EDIT: Didn’t see ginger’s post…yes what he said!

Have not heard of the positional awareness stat. Will look into that tonight. How does it work? Some sort of percentage on more hands being played in later position?

Some people do a better job of adjusting their ranges in early/late position than others.

You really should email Pokerstars about another players hole cards being blocked. I mean, come on…

Thank you all for the info.  I am in the process of implementing all of the ideas I read with what I have put together myself with hem2.  Once again, I appreciate anyone taking the time to read or post on topic.
