Hey TPE!

Was playing this hand, and I am questioning my line post flop here, thought please.

Read: The V was playing a bit agressive, and usually barreling about half pot on cbets. No more reads on.

Preflop: Hero is BB with 9diamond 7spade
UTG+1 folds, UTG+2 raises to 16,000, 6 folds, Hero calls 8,000

Flop: (45,000) 8club 6diamond 9heart (2 players)
Hero checks, UTG+2 bets 17,000, Hero calls 17,000

Turn: (79,000) 7diamond (2 players)
Hero checks, UTG+2 bets 30,000, Hero calls 30,000

River: (139,000) 7heart (2 players)
Hero bets 73,045 and is all-in?? Or check call?

Edit.: I was in doubt about check/call or check raise the flop;
        OTT I was considering if I should fold, but I called to ck/ck river if V has worst, or fold to a shove;
        OTR not sure V shove with worst but maybe call with two pair or str8.

You’re right that all those decisions are close. I don’t know that there’s a lot more to say about it. I think donking flop is an option to consider as well.

Actually, river is close only in theory. In practice I think you’ll find that most people won’t bluff or thin value bet much on the river and will not fold a straight, so I think shoving river is good.

Check-shove on flop too spewy? Am I over-valuing the shallowness of my own stack and not thinking enough about how others have shorter stacks as well?

I think that when we check shove the flop V will fold all of his air hands, and we will be called by overpairs, sets, str8, str8 draws maybe, I think we will be fliping (didn´t check, i am almost sleeping here…) and all this air hands can try to bluff ott or river for few extra chips. And there is the cases that V has a strong hand, and we hit, and we double up 🙂

But yeah, it is close, with fewer chips I would ck/jam it. 14bb maybe 15, or less…

Ive been on both sides of this scenario, and if the villian was opening alot and playing very aggresive like you said then i think he probably had something like AK AQ A 10, something like that. It doesnt seem like he connected with the flop and he seemed confident that you didnt either. But ive been in the villains situation a couple times. Usually i cbet, then if theres a call and no reraise i will double barrel it.  If he calls again then as long as there is nothing to scary out there or he hasnt hit his draw that i think hes on, i will triple barrel it. And just like your villain i do half pot bets when i do this. Its a play that usually works out pretty good most the time, but can also put u in a bad spot.  But im usually pretty skeptical on doing the triple barrel because i start to feel like they are letting me hang myself.

So im thinkin a check raise on the river would have been what i did in that situation. He has already built that pot up so much i think he wouldve tried to take it down after you checked it to him.

Thats my two cents, im not a pro by no means, and im still learning like everyone else. I may be totally ass backwards in my thought process here lol
