Loved that lead out with 85o on KT8ss multiway. 99% of players would not win that pot and if you turn an off suit 8 or 5, somebody’s gonna get hurt. Also loved the “see? he’s doing it again!” on the TT limp. Classic.

thanks bud i appreciate the comments…i always try to mix it up and think of creative ways to pick up pots. It keeps the game fresh and fun imo.

hey whats up bud..good question..but in that spot specifically (bc of stack sizes) I think that if patrin was to shove then me just flatting the additional 9bbs would already look strong enough and more than likely ECwins13 will fold w/o having to iso raise. However, IF he does choose to call then I’m very happy playing my cowboys in position against another big stack, just gotta be cautious.

Your postflop sizing (1/3 pot stabs, tiny c/raises) seems small, even by new school standards, on wet boards. Is this a reflection of your high stabbing frequency (which I like BTW, you win many pots with bottom pr/bad kicker)? Or are you just always trying to induce/ get calls from worse?
When is it right to cbet 3/4 pot?

Good questions. I tend to C bet smaller in general (mostly when i get called by someone defending their blinds) bc overall i think that if they have something they are gonna peel and see that turn, and if they dont have anything then they are folding regardless of the bet amount. Pretty basic logic. So in saying that if i bet small majority of the time as a C bet bluff, then I’m prepared to fire a 2nd bullet and get them to lay down their hand. No need imo to make it bigger sizing when you already know what your plan is according to their action. Smaller C bet sizing also works well to induce some players to chk/raise w/ worse hands (bc your amount looks so weak). I find that happens more so in the later stages of the trny.
So to answer your questions, no im not always trying to induce when i bet smaller. I try to balance the times that I am bluffing w/ the times that I’m inducing and that makes it pretty hard to play exploit. I don’t like to needlessly inflate the pot if I already know I plan on barreling the turn as a bluff. Just basically serves 2 purposes and works well with my style of play.
As far as C betting 3/4 pot I hardly ever do it. Unless it’s early on in a tournament and I’m trying to inflate the pot with my big hands, or if its a multi way pot and I’m OOP say w/ an overpair or something I might make the sizing bigger to limit the odds of players behind overcalling. I just think in general its risking to much if your bluffing, when a smaller amount would serve the same purpose. And a bit to big if your trying to keep players in the pot with worse.

After reading Every Hand Revealed, I realized that the best way to learn about poker is through watching real hands played by real players, so I like the format. I also like Cory’s style: flatting sometimes when I would 3bet and mixing in limping w/ raises. Although this may be suboptimal under game theory, the added element of surprise more than makes up for a little lost equity. His vids remind me not to be too mechanical in my thinking, that poker is a thinking man’s game, and sometimes it is ok to take an unorthodox line. Also, I think he’s an easy player to follow as he is able to explain advanced concepts in a straight forward manner. My only complaint is that the vid recording quality could have been better, esp. in vid 2. But that’s something that has already been addressed.

I’ll also add that I like seeing these vids with a little disjunct between what he is thinking after the fact and what he actually did. It’s impossible to play an entire tournament without making one single mistake, so this reminds me that you can win a tournament even though there are some things you may have done differently after the fact. It’s a more honest approach imo.

With your hand at 11:00, where you close to 3X, why do you want to give the impression to the blinds that you’re committed to a call? I would think that AJ does pretty well against the blinds’ re-shoving ranges, so I would think that we would want to min-raise to give impression that we may fold to a ship because people will ship more often that way when we’re ahead.
