I'm going to play some 6 max tourneys, as it is what I am used to at the min.

I have Holdem Manager, and will be using it.

I normally use Sharkscope, but I see you have to opt in with Stars. Is there an alternate that works for all players?

Any other usefull tips on paying at Pokerstars?

 Cheers cool

I use pocketfives, or usually just google the players ID. You will at least have a rough idea who you are up vs based on the results google gives you.

Get a table layout you are comfortable with. Stars is a really awesome peice of software, try not to enjoy the features too much!

Mass fields with lots of land mines to dodge. Dont expect small fields as every PS tourney bloats to massive size and also dont forget thats its easily the toughest room on the planet as well because of the volume of players.

Totally agree with ttwist. If you play the same style on stars as on merge you will get crushed. Probably the same reversed. Expect 3betting light, 4betting light, 8bet-allins light, expect sick moves from opponents when there are 5 overs, straight and flush possibilites on the river with 72o, with 55, preante, postante, with 120+ BBs. Etcetc.

Still, there are plenty of fish (I can only speak for the $5 – $20 tourneys). In the $1 – $3 MTTs you'll find insane plays that should bring a solid players ROI easily to 100% – if you put in the volume and patience.

You'll find much more regs in all player-capped tourneys as well as in the 1R1A, 2R1A tourneys.

If you play the super-size-fields like “The Big” and “The Hot” tournaments, you should, unless you don't care about insane varience-spots and suckouts, play tight early most of the time. Fish will knock themself out until the fields are less than half the size.

Have fun. wink

As sen mentioned, the 1r1a and 2r1a fields are usually right full of Regs. There are only a few tournaments on the schedule that don't have gaurantees, which tends to make them the smallest fields.

At the end of the day, it's just poker. For all the crazy insane stupid stuff you see, there are still a bunch of fish on Stars. You just need to figure out who they are.

Thanks for all the responses here, sounds like alot of fun and a bit scary.. I used to play bigger fields, but havent for years, all I remember is that I played alot tighter back then.

I play nuetral/aggressive in my 6-max deeps with 40-250 players as I seem to get away with pf raising and  3 betting aginst alot of players there. I'll try to be more tag, especially if I try to play some full tables.

Really helpful responses, Thanks again smile
