Not because of the amount ($1,062) in the Borgata/Party new 5K $50 double chance tournament. But because I had to get past a list of who's who of players in NJ at the final table: Michael “Gags30” Gagliano Mike “Johnnny Drama” Haberman, who has won the largest NJ Sunday major twice, JimmyIce, the leading MTT casher in NJ and several other solid regs. Have won more in other NJ MTTs, but the competition was not nearly as good, so I am most proud of this one. Thanks again TPE!

Awesome Job Mike………….  Mike is truly a great solid reg in NJ.  Happy for him and like it said……..  Those guys he named are the studs of NJ online at this time.  I know a ton know who “Gags” is, the other guys are really solid players as well.  So, I know exactly how Mike feels because over the last number of months since WSOP Vegas, I finally had nice results and playing more.  Mike is ALWAYS cashing it in the top 20 it seems 🙂  Plus, was at the table when I took a BRUTAL beat in event 1 or 2 of this past online SUPER series on Borgata/PARTYpoker when we were both in the money of the 6MAX.  Mike was nice enough to bust the savage that did me dirty, lol.

Thumbs up Mike.

I  ,”WindanSea”, also live in NJ and also cashed in on the Double Chance 5K $ 50 on Borgata, last night, with a 2nd place finish, $ 900. I have been a new member for a few months now and my results have been steadily improving with some other top finishes in the lower stakes.

I still swim with the other fishes but it feels great to go deeper in MTT's…thanks to TPE Nation for my recent success !

BTW, the guys you mentioned, they are pretty tight and straightforward. I feel more comfortable playing with them than fish I dont even know.

Don't know about that, I prefer the fish to the solid players ever time!

As an aside, just had my biggest score in NJ to date with a 2nd in the Borgata Party 10K for $1,675 last night. That makes it four four-figure cashes for me in less than a month, which is tough to do in NJ. These are most certainly improved results over prior months, as I continue to learn from the great TPE nation! Thanks to one and all…

Hey Mike,

Thats sweet. You will get a lot of fish in the networks. The thing is I took too many bad beats from them so I just wanna show strength and take down the pot for a while whereas the fish pushes me all in for weak draws and binks it.

I hope you dont get that unlucky and come to the point where I am right now. I will give a quick break and be right back 🙂

btw, 2nd is sweet on 10k. I came first on that 3 weeks ago.5k is also ok. But I prefer 888 or wsop as they are more rewarding.

Funny you should mention the more rewarding part. I actually shipped the 10K on WSOP tonight for $3,700.24, which was more than 2K more than my previous best score in NJ. There were a ton of odd players at the FT this time, so I did make some adjustments where I avoided some potential aipf and even aipr scenarios in favor of getting people to hang themselves on the river against me consistently with the best hand (the chip leader, just bled chips into me due to my taking this approach; some bet sizing tells on his part helped matters).

Predictably, I ended up h/u with the only solid reg at the table #3 ranked NJ player JohnnnyDrama. But I was fortunate to beat him heads up, and was rewarded as you said! Quite a heater for me lately (5 4-fig cashes in just over a month), but I think that continuing to grow and learn via this site provides me with the opporunity for such heaters!

That's awesome!!!  Not sure if you saw me, but we were at teh same table for a few when I signed on after the rebuy.  I didn't get anything going.  Signed up 5 before the rebuy…….. blah, I knew I should have just not played since I was a bit under the weather.

So happy for you Mike.  After I signed up and the add-ons, I saw that 3700 1st and was like, OK, gotta play well. lol  no cards or spots.  I get 88 w/ 15bbs and jam into someone who had AA.  Same player at AA the hand before and doubled.

Awesome win.  You need to teach me how to win the 10K, only a bunch of FT's and 3 2nd places. I'll win it soon.

And beating Johnny is not an easy thing.

Congrats

Where do you guys look at player rankings? I have multiple 1st places in 5k and 10k, and some other good scores. Would like to know where I stand and know my enemies 🙂

Hey Mike,

Happy for you brother. Just love how rewarding it is on 888 or WSOP as they are top heavy. It is worth every sweat.

I hope you keep it going. I hope I will turn back soon and maybe we catch up at the tables 🙂

The Poker DB used to have tons but i beleive they have cut back. I take my rankings from PocketFives, but they are based on cashes only, not profit. Still a decent guide to who is good…

Yes, I did see you. And I believe you have now been at my 10K table three nights in a row! Wish I could teach was the first time for me! Had a massive chip lead heads up in the Borgata 10K last week and my opponent was hit with the deck. I seem to be the king of the 5Ks though. I really thought Johnny would crush me; we were about evne stacks to start, and he had be down to abut 30 bigs at one point, but couldn't close the deal. Played decently, but ran quite well.
