Hi everyone.

I’m from the UK and I’ve just subscribed today after watching a few videos and listening to some podcasts and think this might be what I need to up my game.

I’ve been playing poker for around 16 years and have generally been a losing player as I can’t seem to manage a bankroll. I prefer to play large field MTT’s and go deep fairly regularly but can’t seem to quite get to the end. Regularly finish 20th/30th etc places and struggle in the later stages of a tournament. For example, I finished 29th in the big $4.40 on Pokerstars today.

What would you suggest I should concentrate on to up my game and get the wins I think I can get?

Looking forward to getting stuck in and being part of a poker community.

Cheers

Tom

hey Tom,

I think you answered your own question, at least imo.

If you look at my graph you will go blind. No, no…hold on, that’s not right…if you look at my graph and somebody who thought very little indeed of your mental capacity asked you what letter it most resembled…you would correctly answer “V” (unless you really are an utter twit).

If you look at the lowest point on my graph where it suddenly shoots upwards you would be forgiven for assuming that I suddenly got good at the game. The truth though is that the only thing that changed was that I started to play within my bankroll limits. And my upslope is steeper than my downslope, as the actress said to the bishop.

bank roll absolutely critical for sure!  Also, I’d pay particular attention to what our pros are doing leading up to the bubble, how they abuse the bubble and how they play once in the money.  This is chip accumulation time! I used to be very guilty of making it deep in to tournaments, but never really having the chips to do any damage once I got there.  Now, I bust more often, but find myself with chips when I do get deep.  You will also hear Clayton talk about this quite often on the podcast.
