Compulsive gambling when drinking

So I built up a small roll(600$) this week in 180’s and a few sit n gos.. Last night I had a few beers and this brilliant plan to two table .50 1$ cash games(which I never play). When I drink – I play compulsively and I play anything/everything. Long story short, I didn’t get any sleep and crippled my roll to next to nothing. Instead of having 6 bills for my weeks work – I broke even once again. This is the story of my poker career. Can’t count the times I run up a roll and drained it in one night. I guess I am wondering if any of you have this problem and how you manage it. I will try and rebuilt and not let it bother me but I’ve lost my confidence and motivation. Any advice or words of wisdom would be much appreciated…

Thanks for listening

probably best to either stop drinking or stop playing poker imo.  rock a self-exclude from online sites if you want to continue drinking.

If you dont want to stop drinking and/or cant not drink and play, at the very least get a poker buddy on AIM.  Someone who plays the same kind of schedule as you.  And tell them that if they catch you drunk-tilting your roll to beg you to stop.

You have to remind yourself that you worked WAY to hard to build that roll to just blast it off in a night.

If you find yourself doing it again…PM me.  I’ll stop you.

Thanks Killingbird.. Not like I’m an alcoholic but when I do drink, it seems to increase my urge to play. Know it’s gotta stop – like drinking and driving you just don’t do it. How would I PM you anyways? I am not sure what the other guys ‘rock a self-exclude from online sites’ recommendation means.. Thanks again

lol, on pokerstars anyway, you can self-exclude, or in other words lock your account for a specific amount of time.  Under Requests> Responsible gaming you can either ban yourself for a while or place a limit on how high you can play.
