Hey TPE!

I am having trouble to decide if I did played this hand correctly, due to how wide ranges can be here, to me is kinda close to check or bet (otf and ott), not sure if I should cbet ott; otr I don´t think I can make anything worst pay a reraise. Thoughts?

Semi FT I think, no notes on V.

I like your line, flop is definitely a must-bet on a dynamic flop like that and turn is close, but since you can have all four sets here and villain can check-call a reasonable amount of 5x, I think it’s fine to check behind and use your overpairs as bluff-catchers on the river.

If you value-bet all your overpairs on the turn then your range for bet flop/check turn is pretty weak, and that’s a problem since you can expect villain to bet river reasonably often on many rivers. Versus this river bet sizing you can bluff-catch most 77+, and you can bluff-catch with club blockers to bigger bet sizings. Hopefully you can also have some A3cc/A2cc here from time to time as well, but it’s not 100% necessary to have a river raising range here, villain’s range is reasonably polar anyway.

6.25/1 on the river… He bluffing more than 14%?  I think so in general at small stakes players will just bluff too many nonsensical hands.

I personally don’t care for the flop bet sizing with these stacks on this board. Such a small sizing allows any pair or draw to call pretty easy for a cheap price on a board that can get really weird for TT (pretty much any A234567). When any cards come that forces you to check back the turn, you’re opening yourself up to a lot of river bluffs and tough spots. All air is folding no matter the sizing and most draws, combo draws and two pair are looking to ck/call or ck/raise get it in. I’m never folding the flop here for these stacks so I would rather make my decisions easier on all streets by making them decide whether to commit on the flop or not. I don’t really care about pot control in position for 20bb effective so I’m probably betting 18-24k depending on what I think of the villain. As played I feel like we have to call river and half of the time we’re just throwing away 12k and the other half we get to laugh when we win because they could have easily made it very hard for us to call.

You shouldn’t decide on your bet sizing just based on the hand you’re currently holding. This results in unbalanced bets that savvy players can read for what they are. This is a flop that really strongly favors you as the pre-flop raiser, but also one where even most of your strongest hands (such as this one, but also hands like AQ and KJ) have an interest in betting something to fold out live cards. You chose a good bet size that you can make with your entire range, and the fact that you could have so mean unpaired hands gives your opponent some incentive to continue with hands that, in this case, the TT is crushing. The thing about trying to make your own decisions “easy” is that you usually end up doing the same thing for your opponent.

I will take this one to bed, mull it over in my sleep, and incorporate it in to my thought processes by tomorrow.

I wonder if the converse is true: trying to make your opponents’ decisions hard also complicates our decisions? I guess that is self evidently true. OK I had the whiskey, off to bed!
