We are 8 handed in a $1 90 man sit and go. bb is 100, sb is 50, ante is 5.

I open UTG with AJs to 3x bb with 13 bb.

Immediatly UTG+1 shoves with 44BB

lojack has 22BB, hijack has 12BB, cutoff 13BB, button 22BB, sb 10BB, bb 19BB

Action folds to me and after tanking i make the call.

I put the opponent on a range and worked it out to be a -ev call.

Would someone be able to put them on a range to and tell me what they think or am i correct with it being a -ev call.

(Sorry i dont have screenshots, this is best i can do, I put villains range on TT+, AJs+, KQs, AQo+, also KQo but thinking back i dont think they shove with this. Does villain ever have a wider range hear or is to fold the correct play?)

With 13bb utg I am shoving or folding with AJs, specially on this low stakes, people tend to make way too loose calls to see the flop, and you will be playing oop most of the time on multi way pots. If I open is not 3x, with this stacks, maybe if I want to induce with KK+, it is exploitable, but this $1 players dont pay much attencion.

When utg1 shoves his 44bb, you have to keep in mind that he is doing this from EP, and have a lot of people behind, so I would put him on a tight range, with no reads, sometimes people are just crazy, and do this with any two cards, but they will be playing pretty crazy before.

Off a 13bb stack it is very rarely correct to be raise folding, and you are much better off just playing shove/fold, with maybe a few fancy inducing plays in there with AA or KK if you think people will fall for it.

In this case with AJs it is a clear shove with 13bb, especially with no ICM implications. I’ve run the situation through SnapShove and an ideal range is 13% of hands, which you can tighten or widen depending on how your table is playing.

If you’re playing the sit and go’s, which are an excellent way to build a bankroll, I would start using the online version of SnapShove, or download the app, as it’s really good for getting an idea of a GTO shoving range which you can deviate from when you’ve got more reads.

Totally concur with the above comments. I’m shoving AJ s from every position here with 13 BB’s. I’m not happy about it from UG but I’m not happy raise folding here, especially with the blinds going thru me next hand.

As played, I guess I’m going to have to fold to his shove. But I’m not happy about that at all because AJs has good equity against a significant portion of his shove range.

You can’t be pushed off equity when you are already all in, as Andrew is fond of saying!

Ps…at this blind level I am raising 2 to 2.3 x. SNGs are push fold fests. You don’t need to be concerned so much with pricing out the BB from a call, which is different to an MTT.

You can definitely raise-fold with 13bb much more liberally than people think, but AJs is most likely a shove here. The biggest mistake you made was 3xing your open sizing, actually – this gives you different odds versus the shove than you would have gotten if you minraised.

It’s hard to put villain on a range for shoving 44bb, but it’s entirely possible that if you had made it 2x or 2.2x (probably no bigger than that when short stacked) you might be able to fold here, even if you’re priced in after you 3x it.

Worth noting also that it’s really hard to make a substantial mistake with 13bb. If you call here and it’s -0.2bb in EV, that’s hardly a massive error. It’s important not to get so afraid of making a small mistake that might lead to busting the tournament, that you end up turning down very profitable spots in future situations.
