I was playing in a live tourney. $350 buy-in in local casino

Blinds are 200/400

I have 7000 chips on the button.

Folds to me where I bet 1000.

SB folds, BB calls.

Pot is 2200.

Flop comes 3c Qh 6d

BB leads out 1000 from his 8000 stack. BB is 50 year old recreational player.

I consider raising his donk bet but decide to call to keep him in the hand with a suspected marginal holding.

Turn comes 8s. BB bets 2000.

Pot is now 6200. I have 5000 remaining. I don’t want to call and fold the river (to be left with 7.5BB) so I shove.

Let me know your thoughts and if any more info is needed.

I didn´t see what your holding was, big diference Q2 and QA here. With a good kicker i would just call the 3streets and GII OTR, with a bad kicker I would fold turn.

I dont think raising is a good option, because you make V to fold all his bluffs, possible all weak draws that can fire another barrel OTR even if V dont hit his hand.

Oops – I had KQ clubs.

I shoved and villain turned over 68.

Should I have folded to his second barrel oop?

With the KQs you should shove preflop.

What are you doing if the SB or BB are re-raising you preflop?

When you fold, you are sitting with 12.5 BB’s and lost fold equity.

When you call the raise and you are missing the flop, you have to fold and maybe sitting with less then 10 BB’s at the table.

I feel like against my opponents only 99+, AK and AQ are calling (these are mostly older live players not always calling correctly GTO). So I am either in bad shape against their calling range or missing value when they fold marginal hands.

Total agree……  you have to SHOVE there.  Don’t be cute.  Get it in with a strong hand.  If he calls w/ 86   OH WELL.  You have to think about it this way.  Make the proper play, have the best hand and let the poker gods handle the rest.

KQs I can see myself raising or shoving this hand. As played I call all 3dbets from V.

Preflop is probably more of a shove than a raise, but both are fine.

I would most likely raise flop since the short stack sizes heavily incentivize us to push our equity edges as much as possible, so making it something like 2.5k with the intention of either calling it off or jamming any turn card seems fine.

As played, I don’t think you can do much beyond get it in on the turn.

N.B. Don’t refer to it as a ‘donk bet’ – the days when it was acceptable to assume anyone doing it was a bad player are long gone. Just call it a ‘lead’ – there are plenty of spots where it’s a good idea.
