I want to ask first, is this open sizing heads up ok? Or should I be sizing this differently and what’s the best way to think about this. One of my leaks is sizing and I am having a tough time figuring out how to think about sizing and why I should size that way.

Second, I think I  made a mistake on my sizing on the turn. It looks a lot like I am sizing down due to the change in board texture. Also, I was kind of thinking this might be a spot where I ask “do I want to bet or not” because perhaps checking is best here. What do you guys think?

Also, after trying to range my opponent, the conclusion I came to was this: There’s a decent portion of his range on the turn that he would shove with, Like AJ-A9o with the A of hearts and KQ-KTo with the King of hearts. Also, I was thinking he might shove with OESDs here too. We crush that part of his range. Then, he obviously shoves with two pair plus, which we have little equity against but some and sets which we are dead against. Which I think this would make our turn call fine. But I would really like to hear what you guys think about this. Am I thinking about this correctly?

Ok, I’m far from an expert so take all this with a lot  of salt.

First, raise size – when I’m heads up I spend some time probing my opponent, trying to figure out how she will respond to various sizes, limping, etc. If this is the end of a MTT you should already have a decent idea of how your opponent plays so you can probably take that into account, but the dynamic can change a bit heads up. Definitely the #1 error people make heads up is folding too much and being too passive. But that’s not true of all players. Sometimes they are over aggressive if you show weakness and are trappable.

that said, Depending now your opponent, the bet size seems fine. The main thing (IMHO) is to recognize that this is a hand you want to build a pot with and are willing to go to the felt with pre, so whatever you think you can get your opponent into a pot with is probably good. Also, with you chip lead larger sizing is nice as it puts more pressure on your opponent.

Flop is great and we’re clearly hoping to get it in there. QQ is unlikely and there’s only one combo of AA, so we’re really only worried about A7, 77, and maybe Q7. The turn is really nasty as it opens up flush draws plus some additional two pair hands. I’m probably checking behind here, with the intention of calling most non-heart rivers. I think when you bet you strengthen his range too much, while simultaneously giving yourself odds that force you to call.

I was thinking about implementing a raise size strategy that reflects the number of BBs I have a the time. For example, if I have like 20bb or less, I will min raise. What are your thoughts on that?

I think you’re right about betting strengthening his range so a check behind is def. better. I misplayed that. And once he puts all his chips in I will be beat here a lot of the time. So a fold is also the better play. Ugh. Thank God for studying , am I right?smile
