Hand in a Lock 109/7.5k

We’re at 30/60, everyone has about 3k.

Cutoff opens to 180. I’m in the small blind with AQo and make it 400. Hurricanejeff makes it 900 from the big blind.

Should i be 5bet jamming here?

I think i’m probably running close to a 30/27.

P.S.

I think its really unlikely that he knows who i am at this point.

I think this is just an easy muck. Even though he's aggressive I don't think he's putting in 30% of his stack with a worse hand, or as a bluff this early in a tournament. I wouldn't expect him to think that you are light  so I don't  expect him to be messing around here either. I also probably just flat preflop in this spot to keep worse hands in his range, and because we don't want to bloat a pot oop. I assume you are folding to a 4 bet from the cutoff? Was he loose? I know there are cases for 3 betting here too so there is definitely not one right way to play it.

Hey TiltedEV. Long time, no foul ha ha. How often are you raising out of the SB at this point or OOP? now, not concerned about the CO at this point. I see your concern.

Let me see if I am on the same page. Jeff would only 4bet you in BB for pair of T's+, AK (possible), suited AJ, AKo and above he would flat on 9's to 5's and A-10 off and below. Am I right?

I don't see Jeff in a pissing match with you just yet with the blinds are 30/60 but maybe wrong. You sure he doesn't know who you are. You are famous aren't ya?

It does appear he is pretty strong at this point in the tourney.

The fact that he doesn't know you makes this an easy snap muck IMO. If he knew who you were and that you are competent he might try to do something tricky but I really think it's highly unlikely pre ante at 30-60. Also I don't hate your 3b here but a vast majority of the time I like to flat in this spot in the early stages as you keep worse Ax in and really disguise the strength of your hand, and I assume you are 3b/folding. Flatting also better to keep the pot small as you will be playing OOP.

Pre ante makes all the difference here, there is no real incentive for Jeff to go after this pot against perceived unknowns in the early stages.

I also like flatting here a lot with AQ too. Sure you get to play oop but I think it’s better to pot control and keep dominated hands in villains range

if this was post antes it would be a good 4bet squeeze spot for Jeff but I really cant see it before antes, the pots just not big enough for the risk. Was the c/o a known player? The 180 raise makes me think he wasnt one of the good regs, but he is still trying to rep a strong hand. I think Jeffs range here has to be AQs+ JJ+, i honestly think you're crushed here most of the time and would muck. I know Jeff is aggressive but haven't seen him get that out of line in early stages without a big hand (unless hes on the BTN).

All of you are better at poker than me. I went ahead and pulled the trigger. Obviously ran into AK. Board ran xxxxQ and Jeff typed “wp”.

Lol at Jeff typing “wp”. I actually would like calling the initial raise and then calling Jeff's raise better than your line. :s In either situation I just fold. AQo OOP pre ante is just blah against a 3b and especially a 4b. I know that sounds nitty but people really aren't getting too crazy pre ante. You are hoping to be a coin flip at best or you are more than likely crushed. OOP is obv another huge reason for this. Muck it and move onto the next hand. I am good at poker.

Snap fold to the 4bet.

You have put in a fairly large 3bet
To a 3x open…OOP

You are beating nothing and have 0 fold equity
After he puts that much of his stack in preflop.

Putting in 50 bbs preflop, preante…is almost always
a -EV play imo. Youre rarely ahead…and its an umnecessary
Flip at this stage of the tournament.
