So I am playing the 3$+ at ps 60k GT, theres 7500 ppl and almost 80k in the prize pool.
I made it deep and I have 125k stack. Theres about 400 ppl left and I am 200 and something. Blinds 2,5k/5k with Antes, 15k initial pot. I have a tourney M of 9 or 25BB.(Even tho its 25BB I like to think in M terms, so this is 9BB to me)
It´s folded to me and Im in the BTN with KQo and i raise it to 10555, the french aggressive dude which I dont have much information on him but he is french so agressive IMO, in the SB has a 320k stack and shoves it.
I know with a M of 9 I should be going all in to start with but I didnt noticed I was getting short….so I just raised
If I fold here I have 115K left which aint much but a good 3bet shove stack and possibly can double up at some stage, if i call and win the pot ill have 270k and Ill be around 70th, so alive and kicking… I thought and thought and after thinking i said to me he has A7 or somehting, I called.
He had A6o, won the pot and I was out….was this a BIG MISTAKE? I know i should have gone all in pre-flop to start with to avoid moves on me but…..
PS. – Just to add that, when he shoves, I have to pay 115k for a 270K pot, its 2,3 -1 odds, and A6 vs KQ is like 60-40

forget the results. What range do you put him on? Let’s start there.
I put him on Ace rag. Otherwise if he had something like AK, AQ I would expect a normal 3bet
getting 2.3:1 that’s an easy call (given your read, which was pretty much spot on). i duno about shoving 25 bbs but you said he was aggro so that probably would have been ok.

Yeah you are getting odds for a call. It’s really hard to open/fold 25bbs and KQ has enough equity. There aren’t a ton of smaller Ks in his range but the A rag is as is a lot of small pairs. The amount already in the pot makes it a must call. Just bad luck.
I hate to think about 25BB when u have a M of 9.
I normally open shove with M of 5 to 7. I think I should have just open shove with KQ on the BTN with M of 9 and pick up 15k to my stack…

From what I have learned from everyone here I just ship the 25bbs and hope that it gets through. If you raise you give him the opprotunity to click it back and put YOU to the test. If you had 20bbs in this spot its an insta-shove so I ship my whole stack and put him to the test and take away a play from him.
Like RFB said there probably are not that many smaller kings in his range “KJs,KJos,K10s,K10os” but he could be shipping smaller pairs such as 66,77,88,99,1010,JJ to which you are racing or the ace rag hands to which your only a 60/40 dog.
