I’m going to pretend that you’re holding 8h7h so that I don’t just repeat Andrew’s advice. Unless villain is a known drooler, I’m literally never raising an 8 high flush in position against a > 3/4 pot bet. I may not raise any hand on a flush completing turn when the villain is willing to bet large (maybe nut flushes that don’t block the 2nd/3rd nuts and maayyyyybeee a QhJx/QhTx combo once in a blue moon). In position, we can make sure the hand never goes to a free showdown, so we might as well give the villain another chance to bluff and/or overplay their hand before we announce that we have a monster hand (which an 8 high flush isn’t, btw).

Put yourself in villain’s shoes, what’s your range for betting large and then calling a raise. Are there many hands worse than an 8 high flush?

With regards to sizing, this is fine and actually somewhat on the smaller size in terms of raises. Once we match villain’s bet, the pot is nearly 10k and we’re only charging 6.5k on top of that. It’s effectively a 2/3 pot raise.

@ducking, lool your funny. Ive been reading a poker book by jonathen little and his strategy is that we can involved with these type of hands when stacks are deep and also when we have good position. Our hand also becomes irrelevant against the most straight forward oppponents.

As for the hand itself i think v could bet Ax ,AA,KK, 66, he could also bet JT and QJ which he will b/f. This flop really is good for v perceived range since hes opened from EP.

The turn is a blank, do we ever call here? I mean if we had more reads that he double barrels with air we could but in this case raising is only right to get value of his monster hands.

also do u ever fold if v bets and then shoves on our raise ott? Whats the chances of him having a better flush in this spot.

my postflop play is not good so maybe for that reason it is a fold pre but i had position so I dident think its the worse play ever. If there were more calls would u had been more inclined to call pre here?
