Say you have 12-16BB and there are ANTES.

you pick up 55 – 99, are these good hands to 3bet shove if someone raises the pot??

Or should I just fold to avoid being eliminated, and wait for a situation where I will be the first one to open the pot??

In my experience, it depends a lot in raiser’s position, stack size and agressiveness.  If raiser is early, 55-99 prolly a fold.  If raiser is late, reshove.  Big stack and opens a lot, reshove.  Short stack and raise (not all in), 55-88 prolly a fold, coz there is minimal FE, and flipping or dominated when called.  99 is close, I jam and pray.

that’s my own general strategy with short stack, big dog please come and correct meSmile

I also keep in mind that sometimes we arent going to get a great hand to shove and we need chips now. So Im more inclined to shove 79s rather than A3o. Simply because I know that say the BB will only call with pairs and A9s+. If he calls I want to be a 60-40  not a 70-30.

Not sure I agree with this statement fully. Where shoving 79s is a good idea because it flops well. I dont have a issue shoving the A3 either in some spots because if a person wakes up with 10s obviously Id rather be holding the A3 then the 79s.
