hi all 🙂

wanted to know what your thoughts were on this hand?

otf i was happy with my call , as for calling on the turn i dont think its terrible but if we are putting v on monsters here i reckon c/r ott is good so we can build a bigger pot for river? as for river , i dont like my sizing at all.

no spoiler for now lol

Welcome back! What’s your value target? Check-raise turn is best against hands that might not bet again on river. Does that apply to your target?

I don’t know, do you expect him to bet KK again on river or no? That’s the question you need to ask yourself.

I’m not sure , but I think a decent player would check back river with AA/KK , as they have good show down value, some players may bet , but I think the optimal play would be to check back river, am I on the right tracks?

I think bad – mediocre players with AA/KK are just as likely to call a check/raise on the turn as they are to bet most rivers (ie. very). I think decent – good players with AA/KK are much more likely to find bets on a lot of rivers than they are to call many check-raises. If I have reason to believe someone is likely to call a big check-raise with overpairs then I do prefer getting the money in earlier but, as a baseline, I’m going to call and look to check-raise a lot of rivers.

I like how you played this hand, up until the river lead. If you’re going to do it, it has to be bigger (like pot or ideally an overbet shove) but I really don’t like having any leading range on a river that doesn’t change the board. If the river completed more straights than exactly 43 and/or was a diamond, I wouldn’t hate building a leading range (not necessarily including QQ) but I think it is very hard to do that well.

I only tend to lead rivers without the betting lead when I’m exploiting villains that 1) miss clear value bets and 2) either overfold or overcall dramatically against river bets.

Another one of the benefits of waiting to check-raise on the river is that the villain can fire again with bluffs which are chips that we’re never winning after we lead (unless we expect some next-level bluff raising over our 1/2 pot lead).
