What are your opinions on Ed Miller’s post flop range construction model from his book the 1%.

He advocates that a flop range should have a 2:1 bluffs to value ratio, the turn should have about a 1:1 ratio and the river about a 2:1 value to bluffs ratio.

And are there theory videos on range construction here?

Never read the book, but I think it’s accurate. Under the videos section, search for Andrew Brokos. He has done a 7 part series on range construction I believe. I am currently on part 4. I’m at work right now,  other wise I’d give you the exact link.

Actually… I can’t recommend that video series anymore. Both that series and Miller’s book (along with Matt Janda’s Applications of NLHE) suffer from an outdated understanding of what balanced postflop play should look like. They all precede widespread adoption of equilibrium solver software, which now enables us to solve postflop scenarios much more precisely.

Both those books and that video series rely on a model that assumes that one player is betting a polarized range into another player with a condensed range. Not only are ranges rarely so asymmetrical before the river, but also there are other factors such as equity denial to consider on early streets.

The bottom line is that that method is really only relevant to a subset of situations, and if you don’t understand the theory that underlies it, you’re liable to misapply it.

My latest series, Board Texture Analysis, is a better starting point. It uses PioSolver to look at how stuff like c-bet frequency and check-raise frequency changes with board texture.
