Hej big (or other pro’s) I have a question about two hands I saw you play in on of your 109WIN videos, part 1

hand 1: 109 6max SB 800, BB 1600

Folded around to button, Pollyson(about 36k) who raises to 3800, bigdog here is my question, you 3bet significant to 9000 (with 83k left), planning to call a shove.

Now, given the fact that he is prob shoving a lot I understand it somewhat because we are flipping against most of his high broadways.

BuUT we  want to make him FOLD here so why would we wanna give him rope to actually widen his 4b bluffing range (22,33,44,55,66,77 etc) that will dominate our hand more than it normally would. In other words, why 3bet-call > 3b shove? Because now it becomes pretty gay (pardon my french;)) if he is shoving like 66 etc.)

hand 2: 109 6max SB 800, BB 1600

Folded to the SB (big) with 90k , BB has 31k. We pick up A9o and you shove saying ‘ you definitely don’t wanna get 3bet off your hand so you shove.

Now, here is what I don’t get. Why wouldnt we want him to spazz out? Like you’ve been saying yourself, your seen as pretty agressive so people sometimesdo crazy stuff and for a BB to reshove light with ~20bb effective isn’t really weird at all, lot of them will prob. reshove just about any ace but def not calling with the A9> hands. Now, you say yourself, in the video ‘ Def. don’t wanna get 3bet off my hand’ and if I understand correctly here, you don’t want to get bet off what will very likely be, the best hand. Why wouldn’t we wanna raise/call,making him spazz out way more than shove and most likely not really getting called by worse where as in the raise/call we’ll actually get it in with the best hand a lot more. Obviously we sometimes shove weaker hands so ‘balancing with the A9 here would be ok but wouldnt that mean that raise/calling with strong and raise folding with weaker more than shoving would be more +ev aswell since when we raise with a weak holding we are only investing xamount of chips to gain x where shoving is way more to risk .

Hope i made everything clear. It really puzzles me. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not critique or anything( haven’t even accomplished a fraction of what you have(yet:P) but I just don’t see why these would be the most (c)EV+. Love your vids but Im def. someone who can take on the devils advocate sort of speak

Cheers,

Enc.

Well the answer to the first question is the reason I cant just shove him in and not give him a 4 bet shove option is because there is still action behind me. The BB is still in this pot and have 170k in chips. So im not just gonna jam pollysons remaining 20 blinds because I am still preparing to fold to a shove to babyjohn. Not playing a pot for 60 bbs with 33. So that is the answer to question 1. As for hand 2 I am never trying to make a guy spazz when im only holding ace 9. Alot of times hes laying down k10 here where if he spazzes im in pretty much a flip situation. I think there is way more ev in just shoving and picking up these pots. Then trying to spazz and virtually flip for alot of chips. So this is a pretty standard shove here with a9.
