Just wondering how many tournaments you guys join per day on full tilt pokerstars AP and UB.

I join around 5 or so per day and so i have a lot of dull days but it seems that you pros always have a good showing daily in at least one tournament. So i was wondering how many you guys join per day

Thanks

It really depends… sometimes I’ll play less or sometimes I’ll play more.  If I’m playing a solid schedule, I like to register from 4pm EST until 7-9pm EST.  This can be anywhere from 20+ tournaments.  I would say 5 tournaments is a small schedule but perfectly fine if you aren’t comfortable with multitabling more.  Remember, it’s better to be playing your A game on 5 tables than your B game on 10.(imo)

Red you make a really good point in your post regarding how often the pros make deep runs.  It obviously has a lot to do with skill but I think the volume they put in makes a big difference and their ability to mass table is part of their talent.

While I agree with Panda that it’s better to play less tables if you play better that way, there’s a point where the scales do tip and it depends on how much better you are with less tables.  If you can play 6-8 tables but give up small EV then that is better because you will make more deep runs and by the time you are deep you shoudl be down to a few tables anyway.

At one time I struggled with 4 tables (I’m 35 so I’m no college poker wiz).  Over time I started adding more tables as I got used to it.  Now I can do 8-10 pretty easily.  And I do find a deep run almost every session.

My ROI hasn’t really changed in that time.  I’ve always been around 40% but 40% of 3x greater tables is a huge $$ implication.

I’m just going to edit the title of this post to something more descriptive because I think it can be an excellent reference when searched later on.

There is definitely a correlation between running deep in tournaments and playing a lot to begin with.

When I do play, I usually have as many as 12 going at once, with 30 played on a long day.  On an average weeknight I play between 6-12 tournaments.

If you see yourself playing less than optimally on a given day though, just stop playing.  There are so many times where I try to force myself through a day of tournaments and it never turns out well.  Some people can fight through it, but most can’t.  Just focus on the remaining tournaments you have left and save your BR for another day.

I usually play about 20 in a day. I dont usually like playing more then 8 tables although I can do 16 if I have to but it changed the way I play.  Obviously sunday is a big day and I have been in 20 mtts at the same time before. I didnt have alot of fun tho lol. Play what your comfortable with is the best advice.
