Hey,

I just wanted to make a post on the benefits of taking a shot at this tournament if you are a small stakes player.  It is pretty rare for a tournament to be more +EV than this one.  It will probably have a 30k+ runner field, which translates to a lot of bad players.  Even if everyone of the best 10,000 MTT players on stars plays it, that means there will be 20k+ people who are pretty inexperienced.  I am going to go out on a limb and say the ROI achievable in this is going to be > than what you can achieve in a $11fo on stars.  Probably equivelent to a $5fo.

Lets say you have a bakroll of 2k.  I would definately own dime this tournament and not seek out backing because of how rediculous first place is.  The ratio of 1st place to your buyin is so huge that if you are not down to your last $200 you should probably take a shot and play it.  Also $215 is recoverable.  It's different than taking a shot at the ME with a $100k roll (not saying it's a bad idea) because 10k is a little hard to recover, especially at non-poker work.  $215 can be recovered through grinding or a few hours of non-poker work.  This goes quadruple if you are young and single with a lifetime of earning potential ahead of you.  First place is actually life-changing in this tournament, way more so than a random Sunday major.

So, in summary, I really think this is a rare shot taking opportunity so don't let it slip away.  Also, remember that the prize strucutre is pretty top heavey, especially with 150k+ worth of car for the winner, so don't play scared money on the bubble.

+1 I'd be there for sure if it didn't clash with my (UK) work hours. Good luck to all TPE guys who enter.

I'll be trying to sat into it….. and if I can't, as you point out jshilling it's not hard to recover the entry fee.

There are lots of sats into this, i've been having a crack at the FPP sats, final tabled one sat only to have my AA cracked by KJ….. doh!!!

Good luck to all TPE runners in this one!!

Agree with everything jschill said. Want to point out though that while the ROI may be similar to a $5-$10 buy in level, the play is likely to be much nittier. With so much of the field taking a shot, a lot of guys were turtleing it up last year (of course i played a small sample of players last year.), Steal at will imo.

Also, last year (I think)the prize pool got up to 6 or 7 mil so don't count on any overlay.

Just looked at some sats..For those worried about the entry fee, you may want to try the 1600Eastern $11 Turbo – 1000 Seats guarenteed.

Can somebody explain the start time of the Satty to me?  A 1600 start time means you're going to be coming in pretty late to the big dance, are you not?  I'd hate to spend all that time getting there only to have 30-40bb left when I do.  I think I'm just gonna buy in and hope for the best.

shadow,

its a turbo and you start with 1000 chips. more than likely it will be done by around 1700. stars runs thing the right way. i don't think you'd get in very late at all.

I am a small stakes player and thanks to this thread took a shot at a few sattys. Got my ticket last night prolly spent $20 in entries getting it.

Let’s just hope my luck holds, should be interesting to see if I can hold my nerve and stay loose. A min cash would prolly add 30% to my BR.

I sattied into the million once before a couple of years ago but I had no clue how people played in these majors. After watching the vids on this site I am pretty confident I can find myself some good spots to chip up.

GL Goliath.
Playing the best you can when you are playing at higher stakes is difficult. Trust your game and try not to play scared.

4225th or somewhere around there which is a min cash. I make that $335 profit (around 110 average buy-ins for me) thanks to this thread.

Thanks jshilling09
