Pre Flop: (t3600) luckyyykat is SB with 8[Image Can Not Be Found] 8[Image Can Not Be Found]

AANTENAA raises to t5950, 1 fold, mrgambler007 calls t5950, 3 folds, luckyyykat raises to t67048, 1 fold, AANTENAA calls t40072 all in, 1 fold

Flop: (t100394) 9[Image Can Not Be Found] K[Image Can Not Be Found] 3[Image Can Not Be Found]

Turn: (t100394) 6[Image Can Not Be Found]

River: (t100394) 7[Image Can Not Be Found]

My range is extremely strong against mrgambler007 so I am not worried with a call.  Just wondering what people's thoughts are.  UTG raiser has taggish stats.  My friend and I argued that its a lot of BB's to be shoving here, but I argued that a lot of hands that he calls rarely have me beat.  Opinions?

I’d fold here. Utg range is too strong. Imo.

I gotta agree with Ron on this one. The MP guys is not really my concern here, especially since you have a read on what he is willing to do. If you have an UTG player with TAG stats over a decent number of hands I would be highly confident that his open indicated he woke up with something pretty substantial to start and with well over 100BB’s I can’t see jamming with the 88 (screams to me: “Call, I have a hand I don’t want to fold but it isn’t big enough for me to want to really play”). Given your position some small percentage of the time I am willing to flat an preflop raiser out of the SB from a tight player with a decent starting hand (77+, AJs+, something like that), and a reasonable read on what he could be holding, see what the flop brings (either I connect or it is something that hugely misses his range) and evaluate whether or not I have an opportunity to make a play. There are a lot more options at that point (you hit your hand, scare cards come down, etc) that can give you unearned credibility with your bets given that you were willing to play the hand out of the SB, but this is a fairly rare condition for me and I usually try to avoid pulling the stunt.

This is a jam or fold spot and his UTG range is going to be strong.

He’ll only call with 99+, AJs+, KQ … some type of range like that. So you’re flipping or crushed. I fold and wait for a better spot.

Too tight?

I don’t think flatting is an option.  If I flat, the pot is too big, I am out of position, and UTG only has 19 BB’s so if I am floating anything on the flop I am pretty much committed.  At what point is it good to 3-bet shove?  Can I 3-bet shove with AQo, 1010+?  Also if he raised in MP, can I now shove with 88 if the same type  of person flats?

if we were much deeper we would have options. with just 28bbs with smallish pr against Tag image UTG raiser we should only be considering folding. it sucks but we must assume here from a Tag image we are beat. our hand quickly becomes trash with the action b4 us and our reads.

I think you both need something like 16x the open to make set mining a correct play. Other people have said you need at least 35 bb’s each to set mine.

It’s not a 3-bet spot here. Original raiser is UTG and makes it 2.5x instead of jamming. I feel like he’d jam his weaker hands that he wants to play instead of making a standard open so I’m adding strength to his hand based on this. If he 4 bet jams you have to think he has AK, AQs, or a better pair than you.

My 3 bet shove range here would be TT+ and AK but I’d probably 3 bet and call a shove instead of just jamming in there. I’d size my 3 bet to something like 18,500 with the lower end of that range and more of a click it back number with my premiums to induce a spaz shove.

I don’t think I shove AQ here. I dunno… maybe AQs. I always seem to run into AK when I do this.

fold, you can jam over a raise if you are both in late position, but utg raise with 20BB is super strong IMO

+1 on FKcoolers, I fold AQ here, probably even if it is suited, because i don’t think that raise is ever KQ or AJ, so it’s really not a good spot for AQ

i would jam pre, there is way too much money in the pot, my UTG range is more like 77+,KQo+,AJo+,KQs+,AJs+, so i think he could definitely fold some % of times.  he is prolly calling only JJ+,AK, so i think is prolly +EV.  plus we still have 10BB if we run into monster 🙂
