I dont’ double barrel nearly enough and since watching some bigdog videos have been trying to make them if the situation presents itself.  This opponent is a passive station.

thoughts?

You said he was a station, why would you try a barrel a station?  I like the bet on the flop, its a dry board. When he calls what hand range do you put him on? Qx, PP is what Im thinking, maybe Ax floating? The A on the turn is a good card to barrel and like Casey does you take one more shot on the turn and he usually makes it a fairly big bet. So that is a good line, but I would really like to know how stationy this guy is…if you have seen him call down with K high or third pair on a wet board give up after the flop your just being spewy at that point.

Yeah I generally agree with Jdog here but the A is such a good barrel card that I’d just go for it.  Not sure how big the pot is at this point but I think i’d go like 2/3.

I put him on some kind of pocket pair or any or some Q or maybe random float.  I was pretty sure the 2nd barrel would take him off of all pairs other hand a pair of Queens and maybe even that.  Seemed like a good spot.

He had A5o for a gutter plus an over so obv my play didn’t work but I felt pretty good about it.

Note:  I only bet half the pot on the 2nd barrel.  Why do you guys advise betting more like 2/3?  Would this not accomplish the same thing?

It is a 300 dollar tournament, I guess he is about as stationary as you get for this level but my image is tight and I thought he would fold all pairs below Q and possibly (allthough not very possible) weak Q’s.  So I thought it could work.

I think it looks more bluffy to go 1/2

do you think my half pot c-bet is still good?

I see what you are saying…it looks like I am trying to get stacks in with 2/3 on turn…setting up a river shove

if there’s one thing that doesn’t really ever work when discussing strat, it’s whether or not my bluff is good.  95% of the bluffs i’ve ever seen posted online have been “simply terrible”, which pretty well seems like these bluffs would work vs. 95% of the internet.  I’ve been barrelling like a madman lately and I’ve had my best month pokerwise because of it.  so barrell this turn until you’re blue in the face, and then find another turn on another hand and barrell that one too.

I agree also. I dont double barrel half as much as I should and I really like repping the ace here. Puts him to the test!!

Something that hasn’t been mentioned yet is the fact that you opened UTG.  This gives you much more ”respect” when attempting a double barrel.

4275 in the pot on flop, you have 26k~ behind.  You bet 1875, I would probably bet 2200 or so, but no big deal.

8000~ in the pot on the turn, you have 24~k behind.  I would bet 5600 on the turn.  The reason I choose this bet, for all my spots here is to setup a pot sized river shove.  It puts him to the test on the turn as well, especially when they realize that they will have to face a river shove a good portion of the time.  I also make sure I get my whole stack in here when I have AA/AQ etc.

The only hand villain can have that can continue to a turn barrel/river is AQ/QQ/AA/KK/44/22.  Give your own information, figure out how often you think he has one of these when he just calls instead of raising flop.  When he calls the turn, the % chance of him having one of those hands goes up.

Ty guys…i feel confident with the way I played this now and next time will bet just alittle more on the turn to give the illusion that I am setting up a ship for the river.
