 Equity to

make call=100*1/(pot/amt to call)+1

Do some of you (sometimes) use any other formulas during MTT’s?

Also, could you guys give me an example of the first formula put into use with the full calculations (not really big in math, usually play more on feeling for ranges etc. but def. think it’s good to know some of this even if it’s just usefull for one time)

Cheers,

Enc.

I think in one of the videos Hagbard Celine makes such calculations, but don’t remember exact video (seems like reviewing someone’s HH). While playing I don’t use it all, Sometimes i do this kind of math, but it only happens, when i have a tough decision, or when I’m lost something huge or won -)

Find that video and there about 2-3 examples.

check out this thread for an example of what I use:

/forum/mtt-poker-strategy/simple-callfold-spot-late-in-3r/

Basically I calculate what % of the pot I am putting in, and measure it against my range equity.  If my range equity > cost then it’s mathematically a +EV play.

Of course $EV comes into play later when pay jumps are involved, but during the normal course of play you can do this quick formula to test the profitability of an action.
