What to do when deep in a tourney where most of the field is short stacked? Pre flop situation.

There was about 37 players left and with the stack that I had I was top 10 in chips, but a couple of chip leaders were maybe a little over 160,000 if I remember correctly.  Do I shove this spot?  Do I wait for a pot that has not been opened?  It’s kind of a weird situation when most of the field is in shove/fold mode because of stack sizes and I obviously want to get a stack that I can play vs having to shove/fold.  What is the general strategy where the structures are a bit faster vs. Stars or Full Tilt once you get deep and most of the field is sitting like this?

There is no general strategy.  It depends on what the table is giving you.

Against a random CO’s raise, I can’t imagine not shoving ATss here.  You are just so ahead against a steal spot’s open.

I am gonna take a shot as this n test what I have learned. I’m gonna say we r ahead of his range here. If u 3bet n he shoves u r gonna have to call so I think i would put the pressure back on him n jam. I tend to b a bit spewy n these spots. I really hope Wein takes a look at this, and tells me if I am right or wrong.

considering the blinds and stack sizes, this is a pretty easy shove for me. I assume you got beat – it happens, but it is still the right play because you are usually ahead of his range.

The only exception is if my HUD tells me the CO is super tight raising – even from late position.

yeah this appears to be a turbo, which means that you should have more fold equity with your stack than in a regular mtt because stacks are so short in general.

add to that that like wein said, ATs is ahead of a CO steal’s range, and this is a jammalam.
