hey folks,

My wife and I just moved to Raleigh, NC from Atlanta. I am so damn glad to get out of Atlanta. It was an absolutely awful place to live. But north carolina is pretty conservative, and we're … not. The only reason I happen to care about it is becaue of the freedoms folks have in other states that we don't. Chief among those is the ability to play online poker.

I am big on personal freedom so states where gay people can get married and/or pot can be bought in a supermarket are also preferred. Especially the latter. confused

I am a writer, have written for several trade journals and am regularly employed by a few. I am at the point where i have a good selection of clips and im getting  paid avg 1k fir per article, so I just need to find a place to hire me. Think ESPN needs yet another person to add poker content to their site? 🙂

My wife works in the nonprofit sector as a develoipment person. just saying our professions in case that helps folks make suggestions.

thanks

This is interesting because it's very similar to my story. Moved from Los Angeles to Cary, NC for a change of pace. When we got here it was sort of this little progressive/liberal pocket in a pretty conservative state. But it's gone backwards big time in the last few years and frankly is not a place I'm super stoked living anymore. It's fine for one more year while my son finishes up high school. But I am definitely ready to get out!

We too are looking for a place to move. Problem being that the states that have regulated poker are all places I would not be very excited to move. I don't like cold weather so NJ/DE are out. And the month or two I spend in Vegas every year are plenty! If I had to pick one of those three it would certainly be NV.

We are currently considering getting a place in the Bahamas that we can just bounce back and forth between (its only a 3 hour trip from RDU). So that could be our little getaway and also a place to go play some poker once in a while.

Sounds like California is getting close to makeing some progress on the poker front, so perhaps that will be an option in the near future?
