Thought I would follow on from my “introduce Yourself” thread…

…..arn-a-lot/

Started a month ago with $36 which was the change left in my account after withdrawing the rest.   So far, with the help of this site I have managed to win a 10,000 seater league freeroll (paid a whacking $5 1st prize lol)  and just I managed to win a 55c 500 seater, bringing in $46 1st prize.

This with a few other cashes has got my roll up to $120.  That is a big thing, because it means I am ready for the $1 jobs 🙂

obv I expect to drop back down and bounce back up from time to time, but eventually I shall get there.  And learn a ton along the way.

PS.  you would not understand how happy I am right now.

I thought it would be a good idea to post my real bad blunders,  I think finding blunders using a replayer and such is a good idea.  Even though I use linux I still have a few tools,  holdem resources helps me find a hand, I can then copy and paste its history into universal replayer.   Take a look at how it played, then go back to holdem resources and go into advanced mode to mess around with ranges just to get some indication of how poor my play was.   Obviously this one showed up as a big error.  I finished 12 of 12 in a 250 seater and this must have been one of the last hands, these run often and so I was able to take a little glance at pokerstars and grab some payout figures to get the math a little more correct.  I gave my foe here a 21% range.   Before correcting the payouts I missed a +0.44 EV call,  but after correcting the payouts it came out as 0.11 EV call.   Now to me that does not seem a huge amount and is slightly missleading, so I changed the chart from “show EV” to “show stratergy”…  and it got it at 100% call.   Which seems obvious really, but nice to know the tool I am using can figure it out.

UTG+1 wins t3300

So now I have to ask myself what went wrong?

My conclusion is my focus here was on shove or fold, a few of players, ironically what seems to be the better players, throw out strange bet sizes as raises.   Maybe I folded it thinking it was one of those strange raises?

How do I plan to fix this?

Do not let myself go too deep into shove or fold that I stop thinking about calls.  When I have a hand that is probably going to go all in preflop if folded to me ( to make matters worse I was actually in the BB here but that only happens 1 in 9 hands ) and someone has bet then stop, stop and thinks, and stop and think a bit more.  Take my hand off the mouse for a second.
