Ok guys ive been reading through Nqon and Loxxii's threads and decided to start my own.

About Me

I am not a professional. I have a full time job training to be a Store Manager of Aldi Supermakets, so my hours range from 6am to 9pm, on any day of the week. I also have a wife and 1 year old Daughter, so my poker playing time is limited. Ive been playing poker since 2004, mostly in home games and occasionally at Crown Casino. I have tried most form of poker as my main game. Cash, Heads up SNG's, PLO, STT's, they dont compare to MTT's. I love the competition of being the last one standing. Cash doesnt appeal to me, i find it repetitive and boring. HUSNG were more favourable, but i still didnt find them as fun as MTT's. I love the idea of working hard at your goal to a big score, and a community like TPE is going to help me tremendously. I've been here for several months, but havent really been involved poker wise, as least not as much as i would like. That will soon change.

My Goals

I Have a small bankroll. I play micros. That being said i have enough money to replenish my roll and then some, but i choose not too because a. I prefer to spend it on my family, and b. I dont think im good enough yet to beat the mid stakes. So that is my goal. Move up and start beating the midstakes. One other friendly goal, i want to be my home game's highest money winner this year (We play cash, i know i said i find it boring, but not so much live and when im playing with mates. I like how people can rock up and leave when they want, most of my mates can't all make the same specific time if we play tournaments)

What I Play

With my time restraints, i prefer to play turbo tournaments, but if i have the spare time, i would much rather prefer reg speeds. So a lot of my volume will be in MTTSNG's and micro turbo MTT's.

What I Plan To Do With This Journal/Blog

I will update as i play with results and specific hands that i found interesting. Hopefully get some dicussion going if the hand actually is interesting wink

What I Plan To Get Out Of TPE

TPE is phenominal. You've got an outstanding Head Pro (bigdog, your run in the last week or so has been incredible to say the least), the community is a very friendly group, willing to offer constructive criticism where needed. If i make a deep run in a tournament, i will putting the HH up for review. If someone wants to do a video for it, i am more than willing to be involved in the video, hopefully asking the right questions, as i know i will get the right answer. smile I am joining the Skype chat group, and as my roll grows, i will be joining the Down Under cycle tournaments with my fellow Aussies. I also hope i will make some new fantastic poker friends, as most (if not all) of my mates only play poker for a muck around, and don't (want to) take the game seriously.

I woud love to meet up in a live scenario with TPE Aussie when the opportunity arises (i unfortunately couldn't make the Aussie Millions while Bennymacca & Duggs were there due to work commitments frown)

I will be watching much more TPE vids in the future that i have been. I have been watching DannyN13's turbo vids, and will start watching the Bankroll builing vids soon. If anyone has any other suggestions for a turbo based selection that would be fantastic.

I think i've rambled on a bit so i might leave it there smile If you wanna chat, leave a post here, or look me up on Facebook, Twitter, or add me on Skype (Although im never really on Facebook)

Hope you enjoyed this little Bio on me, and i hope you enjoy the journal as i builds cool

Thanks Guys!!

P.S: Good luck to everyone in the upcoming 'TPE Favourites: Song' coming up soon. wink

Sounds like you have your priorities in order, bankroll management does not appear to be an issue, and you're a TPE subscriber, so you're ahead of the game in three important areas. Best of luck to you!

Thanks guys! I haven't had a chance to play too much since my first entry, Since the start of 2013 i've only played 15 tournaments.

I won a TCOOP Satty for $27 which i used for $T dollars, I won a 45 man sng and came 7th in another, and cashed in the $2.20 turbo, 449/4788. Now that the holiday season is wearing down, i'll be getting a lot more volume in coming up.

As far as my home cash games are going, We had our 3rd session yesterday. I got my stack in with KK on a TJ2dd flop after a c/r from the only other competent player at the table. I was so close to folding too, but didnt and he had TT to felt me cry Luckily i bought back in and rallied back, mostly due to someone stacking off on the river after i flopped a set. I ended up in the black $50 smile which puts me overall for the year so far at $10 in the red. Plenty of time, plenty of opportunities.

Anyway i'm gonna go over my HH from the $2.20 turbo and see if there is any threadworthy hands to put up. Until next time TPE'ers smile

Just had a quick look over of my HH for the 2.20 turbo i played the other night. Couple of hands that stood out that i wouldn't mind getting some TPE opinions on:

Only a couple of hands in, i had just doubled up the hand before this with AA against AK. I feel like this river completes so many draws, i prefer a c/c than any other line. Thoughts?

Both players involved hadn't even been at the table for a full orbit yet. I regret flatting this on the BTN against a 20bb stack, not worth it right? What about my flop play? Thoughts?

I completed the SB just trying to smash a good flop, and decided to get to cheap showdown with maybe the best hand. Not sure about the turn call, maybe i should just fold there? I'm pretty confident about my river fold. Thoughts?

Both blinds had only been at the table for 3 hands, BTN was 21/4 over 24 hands. Is this a good spot to take?  Most hands were starting with limps (standard $2 tournament) So my hands were tied in open shoving spots. So when this one came up, i felt i needed to take it. Agree?

Welcome to TPE and good luck with your goals. FWIW I'd recommend getting even more specific about the amount of volume you want to put in at a given stake and the size of bankroll you want to have before moving up. Really plot out the steps along the way to your goal and when you will know that you are ready to take the next one.

As for the hands you posted, I think they're pretty interesting:

1. As painful as it is to fold Aces to such a small bet, I think that's correct. Have you watched my hand reading series yet? This comment will make more sense if so, but I think that he can't have a bluff and he isn't value betting a marginal hand worse than yours, so that makes it a fold.

2. Agree with the pre-flop fold, but I like the flop underbet.

3. Perfectly played IMO.

4. I'd fold this. In my experience an early position 3x raise when a guy only has 20 BBs is pretty strong, and with your own positon being so early, the risk of someone waking up with a strong hand behind you isn't trivial either. There are plenty of players against whom I'm shove this, but without a read I'd fold.

Thanks for the advice Andrew, good to see i played at least one hand right smile

As far as your first point of advice goes, i very rarely get the opportunity to play MTT's, so i think a volume goal for me wont be adhered to very well. Bankroll wise i agree, I have a very rough guideline of 30BI as i can replenish my bankroll as needed.

Thanks again smile

Hey guys, so it's been about a week since my last entry, so i thought i would put up another one.

I only played 2 day this week, 20 tournaments total. Mostly turbo 45mans, but a couple of 180 mans and large MTT's as well. If anyone follows my Twitter account, you'll know my results:

45 mans – 2 wins, a 4th and a 7th

180 mans – 1 min cash

MTT's – Zilch

So i ended up this week in the black, adding to my bankroll to move up to the midstakes. Here is my overall graph for 2013:

I'm going to go over some hands and post some interesting ones in my next post here.

hand 1: bet bigger on flop and turn, but yea c/f river is best

hand 2: betting is fine, but yea fold pre

hand 3 is fine

hand 4: think about positional ranges, he will never ever be light there and we have no way near enough equity v 99+ AQ+ and we dont get near enough folds from much else

yea the shove is fine, you can iso shove limpers with a pretty wide value range since theirs is capped tho btw.

Ok guys it's been a while since i updated the journal. I had a couple of weeks holidays and came back to work to discover that my boss would be off for several weeks, and i was being given the chance to take over the store smile Now bearing in mind this is a store that makes roughly $1.8 million a month, so thats quite a bit of responsibility. So I've been mainly focused on work these last couple of weeks, playing only a small amount.

That being said, I did ship a $4.50 180 man the other night for about $220 so that was fantastic!! I have come to realise that i play much better in reg speeds than in turbos, as i can play quite patiently and pick my spots well, whereas in turbos i kinda freak out and get it in a bit too light in certain situations wink

So here is my updated graph for the year so far:

Image Enlarger

Seems like i might focus a bit more on reg speed tournaments smile

I am going to review my 180 man win when i can and post some interesting hands in the thread as soon as possible.

Ok guys i was running through my HH review of my 180 man win and picked up a couple of hands to post here:

Villain was 55/27 over 46 hands. I hadn't noticed any showdowns at this point in game, but on the replayer i noticed some wierd plays (open limped 23s on the button and checked down a flush draw against the blinds, flatting 76o from bb and c/mr 3rd pair oop etc)

I think flop is pretty standard. Is checking turn for deception/let villain catch up better than betting, since his donk flop/check turn line looks like someone just taking a stab and giving up, so i dont want him to fold his air. On the other hand he does look like a fish and may still call with overcards/draws/underpairs so betting does have strong points.

Should my river raise be bigger? His range looks weak imo so i dont thnk he will call much.

Thoughts?

This villain was running 11/10 over 86 hands with an ATS of 31. He seemed competant enough and positionally aware. My image had been TAG, not getting out of line really. Is this a profitble 3bet with ATC? and if so, is my sizing ok?

These are just a couple of stand out hands. The final table consisted of me tripling up with AQ then winning a massive flip with QQ against Ak to take a monster chip lead 5 handed and apply heaps of pressure on eveyone since they were playing to move up in spots after that. So it was basically a lot of raise/take it downs towards the victory! If anyone would like to take a look over the whole tournament i would greatly appreciate your feedback or anything else you have to offer. Send me a PM here or email or Skype me and i'lll send you either a Universal Replayer version or the raw HH so you can put it in your PT or HEM.

I'm more than happy to make it a HH swap and review of tournament of yours too smile

Thanks guys

hand 1  bet turn, as played id raise river bigger

hand 2   sizing seems fine for being oop, tbh maybe its a lil too nitty but if i have a feeling he will not fold to the 3b often i have no problem folding here with a 30bb stack

hand 3  shove against random, but against competent regs i would mix it up with checking

Thanks for the replies guys smile

Just posting an update from the last couple of days, played another 20 tournaments and booked 2 45 man wins and 2 cashes, and a deep run in the hot $4.40 for a small boost to the bankroll. I posted a hand from the hot 4.40 in the MTT strategy sub forum:

…..too-loose/

And a funny little hand in BBV:

…..ck/#p46030

Overall my bankroll has been boosted another $18.23 to put my total winnings YTD at $260.36

I'm most likely going to start making this a weekly entry coming up smile

Ok gang it really is time to update this thread! smile

I had to withdraw my roll for life purposes (Not that you could call it a roll to begin with) And have had to start rebuilding a new roll. I'll start with $25 and with a 50 buy in minimum, grind through the micros to continue on my course of making it to the midstakes.

So i'll start with 50c 45 and 90 man mttsngs until my roll allows a move up the ladder. I will continue to post results and interesting hands as they come up.

Thanks guys and girls, I really hope i can stick to it this time around and show some considerable growth in my game. I already know for a fact I am at the right place to get this done. smile

Had my first session in a long time last night, played 12 tournaments with a mixture of 45 mans and 90 mans at the 50c level. Ended up final tabling 4 of them, all 45 mans, 9th in one for no cash, but put up a 4th, 3rd and 2nd in the other 3 smile The heads up match I played went for considerable amount of time for a 45 man turbo, chip lead bounced back and forth several times, and he had some pretty crazy bet sizings. At one point i made a pretty big hero call imo with A7 when he overjammed an 855 flop, showed K7 and binked the King on the river cry

So no wins unfortunatly but profit nonetheless. I will add another post after work with some interesting spots to discuss smile

Quick update and some hands, played another 6 mttsngs the other night and only managed a 3rd in one of them, so overall i am +$2.56 to bring my roll to $27.56. I'll keep plugging along and hopefully get a good run together to be able to move up to the $1-$1.50 level.

First hand of the tourney, gotta go for the obvious value bet on the river yeah?

I've been trying a tactic of just jamming premiums on the first hand when the opportuniy arises, does anyone else see this as a viable approach? especially at these levels?
