Im sure you know this already, but in my opinion the forum has been unacceptably buggy lately. particularly with randomly logging in and out, and redirecting to the “beta” site seemingly randomly.

i really dont think its good enough and it is letting your business down at the moment. traffic has dropped off significantly at the moment imo.

there are a few of us diehards that will still try and come to the forum but the occasional posters are nowhere to be found anymore, and i think it is just because the forum is shot.

i hope you take this the right way because i want to see TPE grow and become bigger as much as you do, because i love the community here.

cheers,

ben

I already mentioned this to KB today, but +1

A large part of why many people stick around here is the community that you guys have built, seems shitty to let it die due to bugs.

also ironic that i got beta'd reading this post

Yup we are aware and it's high on the priority list to fix.  We just hired a new programmer that starts this week and will stablize the site bugs including the forum.

Sorry for the issues, unfortunately we had some problems with our last programmer which caused the issues – which of course is not your problem – but we are putting in the resources to fix it.

Yeah we are definitely putting “mobile” on the list of required features.

For the forum we might change forum software all together.  We are currently reviewing options but once we start we'll do it fast.

Thanks for the honest feedback guys and appreciate the patience while we fix the bugs.

I think I suggested a forum software change right at the beginning of TPE. It feels way to heavyweight / overloaded imo. phpBB or vBulletin are great forum softwares that have been proven worldwide. Even 2+2 uses a customized version of vBulletin.

Yup, good call.  We are most likely moving to vBulletin…the project is already underway to rebuild the entire site and the forum will be upgraded during that process.  Most likely be ready in the next 2-3 months.  It's a pretty big project considering the size of the site but it will fix the stability issues that have cropped up lately.

+1 But I have to say that whoever is manning the TPE support emails at around midnight West AUS time is damn good.   A couple of times I've emailed about being redirected to the beta site and got a reply and fix within about 20 mins.  #ipadsupport!

WOW. If you really switch over to vBulletin I'll become a fulltime regular on the TPE forums!

As a previous System/Linux sysadmin and currently Software Developer I know the amount of work & time such a migration takes! Good luck guys!
